Inspiration for this Mitered Drawstring Project Bag came from the Designer’s Challenge forum on Ravelry.com. The challenge was to create a bag using mitered squares, and this was the result! I was looking for something durable, big enough to be a project bag for my knitting, and something that would use up those leftover skeins I had in my stash. This pattern uses about half-a-skein of the suggested yarn per colour, (a little more for the MC) making it the perfect project to use up leftover half-skeins of yarn!

The bag starts with the same cast on used for toe-up socks, and increases from that to form the bottom of the bag. There are two different bottoms, one for a bag with a tapered bottom, (shown on the sample), and one for a flat bottomed bag.

The mitered squares are knit individually without seaming, picking up stitches from the work below. Then, the bag is finished in the round and eyelets are added for a twisted cord. The top border of the bag is edged with garter stitch stripes.

FAQs

For a custom-designed knitwear piece, what can I expect?

I will contact you to discuss sizing, modifications, fiber choice and colour. My materials for commissions are ordered on demand, so there will be a delay before I can begin the creation process.

I will set a price quote based on our initial conversation once materials are chosen and the cost of materials is known, but I reserve the right to alter that price if changes are requested after the beginning of the creation process.

Payment is required either when I begin the creation process, or when the item is complete, depending on the nature of the item and the type of customization requested.
What is your studio space and do you have pets?

My studio space is also my home; and yes, I have two cats who share it with me. While all commissions are washed thoroughly before being sent, if you are sensitive to cat dander or fur, I cannot guarantee that your item will not have small traces of dander, despite my best efforts.
What is your studio space, and do you smoke in it?

My studio space is my home, and it is a smoke-free environment.
What patterns can I request custom orders based on?

You can request custom orders from any of my patterns (including patterns that are not available via my Etsy Store). My entire pattern portfolio is visible here: http://www.ravelry.com/designers/sarah-dawn.
If you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. Items for return must be unworn and in good condition (no stains, obvious wear, or damage). The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer. I suggest returning it via a delivery service that offers tracking, so that it is sure to be returned to me.

Note that Sale Items, Digital Downloads, Jewelry, Custom Orders, and Intimate Garments may not be returned.

Please contact me before sending an item for return.
Shipping is done through Canada Post, and all physical items are shipped with delivery verification.

Shipping Costs for jewelry is a flat-rate of $15 CAD within Canada and the US for any number of items. Shipping costs are included within the cost of knitted garments and accessories.

I do offer basic letter-mail shipping at a lesser cost for those items small enough. This option does not include tracking or delivery confirmation. The individual listings will note if that option is available.

If you wish rush shipping, contact me for an estimate before placing the order.

What’s wrong with this listing?

The first thing you should do is contact the seller directly.

If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case.
