Announcement   Welcome to 32 Pens! This is a small pen shop with nothing but hand-made products, made by me. My preference in this shop is fountain pens, but ballpoint and rollerball pens are also available. The quality of the writing experience is important to me. I don't sell anything that won't write well, and I've learned how to tune fountain pen nibs for my own use, and for the pens I sell.

I am a pen enthusiast, and I love making products that are a perfect combination of function and form. I turn all products myself on my own lathe, sometimes getting a little help in creating the pen blank from my 12-year-old daughter Aisha, who is far more creative than I am.

I hope you like my work. I am located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. If you are nearby and want to buy something, let me know and I can spare you the shipping cost. If you are very nearby, I am willing to meet to let you look at a product that you are interested in, in person. Often my photos do not do my products justice, I'm still working on that.

Welcome, and thank you!

About

I love pens, and I love making pens, and my wife said that we only have so much room for them, so I figured I should start selling them. ☺

After getting into fountain pens in an attempt to improve my handwriting, I found found that I greatly preferred them, and began looking closely at all pens I was using. Soon, I was a "pen geek", with strong opinions about the quality of my writing instruments.

I was not so concerned initially with how they looked, only how they wrote. Even relatively cheap, commodity pens can be quite good writers if you are selective in choosing them.

Ballpoints are normally the worst, but some are much, much better than others. I no longer buy them in bulk at a dollar store and discard them when they stop working.

Rollerballs are much better, and I wish I'd known about them when I was still in school and taking notes every day. I still use them for taking quick notes in meetings and such.

For writing for long periods, nothing beats a well-tuned fountain pen that is broken in and customized for the writer, including the proper paper and ink. I'd like to thank Brian Goulet at gouletpens.com for his excellent youtube videos on the subject, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking into fountain pens. Google for "Fountain pen 101".

Taking my pen geekness to new heights by turning them, it made sense to try to pay for the hobby by selling them. My wife approved, luckily. My daughter named the shop and helped as my entire creative team, and the shop was born.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through the store, or email me at mike [!at] 32pens.ca. On most days I'm rather friendly, after I'm awake anyway. Thank you so much for considering my shop and my work. It means a lot to me, as does your patronage.
