Announcement
(please note, under CONTACT it says "Typically responds within a month". This is an Etsy glitch. I respond daily.) Sorry I haven't been around for a while. My husband of 44 years passed away in 2020. Grief flattens creativity. But it's 2022 and I'm finally back to my art full time. And my collection of driftwood has a sneaky way of luring me to pick it up and lose myself in ideas. So I am finally able to offer new work for sale. Hope you like it as much as I do.

5 out of 5 starsWhat a beautiful sculpture with a lot of work and soul put in to its construction. Anne-Louise was a pleasure to talk to through the purchase process. She even helped make the sculpture extra special with a painted rock with the recipients' initials and wedding date. Thank you!

5 out of 5 starsAs a horse owner, I'm amazed at how well the essence of a horse is captured in this sculpture. Clyde is so expressive, his head tilted and tail swinging as he walks along. This is the work of a true artist who knows horses.

5 out of 5 starsI can't even begin to say how happy I am with this sculpture. To be honest, I was a little nervous buying something like this on the internet, without seeing it in person first, but I am delighted to say that this wonderful little sculpture has surpassed my expectations in every way. It's even better than it looked in the pictures - I just can't believe how much charm and personality has been captured in driftwood! Very fast shipping and wonderfully secure packaging made this a perfect transaction. Thank you so much!

It takes as much time selecting the right 'horse parts' as putting them together!

My husband called this a driftwood horse 'kit'.

Drying a new pick in front of the woodstove. Lots of interesting bits here!
Passions come from surprising places
Walking the beaches of beautiful northern Nova Scotia is one of my favorite pastimes. And it's been many years since I collected my first piece of 'interesting' driftwood. When I started seeing horse forms, a wavy mane, the curve of a back and withers, the angle of a knee or hock, the arch of a neck ... well that was the beginning of a new and joyful phase in my life. It took some time to develop the techniques to make the pieces come solidly together without exposing attachments (you just can't Google how to assemble a driftwood horse!) I still thrill each and every time I get to put life and movement and personality into odd bits tossed up by the ocean.
