Annex Suspended mobiles and suspended art is made in Canada, in the beautiful Rocky Mountains

Michelle Galway and Brina Schenk live in Fernie, BC, a small mountain town, and we love mobiles. Our friendship began one fateful day in a program for parents with young kids, and we hit it off right away. We soon discovered we both have a desire to make things with our hands and, at the time, we had a bit of time to start making things. A lot has changed since we started Annex Suspended but we still enjoy the process of building something from nothing. Our focus has been on quality and simplicity. We love simple, beautiful ideas. We hope you enjoy all that we're creating and we hope to release a few new designs in the near future.

I love mobiles, sewing, my mom, sound of a train whistle, arriving at the station with the train already there, running, art history, getting a good deal, the smell of fresh cut grass, flowers, friends, family, wearing black and making things.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change a colour?

Some of our mobiles can be customized by colour. Especially the painted pieces, such as Happening and Valley Mountains.

Why do you make mobiles?

Michelle and I make mobiles because we love them! That's the short answer. But there's more. Mobiles move! They rotate so delicately by an open window or when someone walks by. They become part of the living home. Mobiles represent balance and motion and harmony. Mobiles can add height to a well loved room. Mobiles are 3D art and each one is unique. They can be fun, serious, commemorative, meditative. And no doubt, mobiles are cool.

Care instructions

A light, dry dusting would be enough for our mobiles. It might be a good idea to keep them out of sunlight to prevent fading.

Suspended Art and Hanging Decor Placement

We love seeing our mobiles move and the best place for this is unique to your own home. Find a place in your home or office that has good air flow, by a register, window or higher traffic area, to watch the mobiles come to life.

We don't suggest actually putting our mobiles over a crib or change table as these are delicate piece of art and cannot be played with.

How do you ship your mobiles?

Free Postage packages will be mailed by Canada Post regular mail, please note, this means no tracking number can be provided. Contact us if you would like your package to be tracked. We will then give you a quote.

Can we change the length of a mobile?

We can definitely change the length of the strings of the mobile, but the pieces themselves are set in size (for the price listed). We heard that a string shouldn't be longer than 7" (for baby's safety) and we have adjusted our mobile string length to accommodate this recommendation. We can also change the length of the string from the mobile to the metal ring it hangs from, if you have high ceilings or low ceilings.
