I started with a few balls of clay which turned into a penguin that I completed with acrylic paint. I was 12. I loved it, a tangible object, so different from a painting.

Thirty some years later I still love playing with clay. The shop opened during the covid lockdown. I lost the in-person craft sales, so tried something new - opened an Etsy shop:) The best thing: sending my pottery around the globe! Such fun!

I have a wee home studio with my potter's wheel here in North Vancouver, BC. I bisque and glaze fire at a larger studio as a member of a local potter's guild. We mix all of our own glazes and slips and run our own firings. For glaze firing we gas fire in reduction to cone 10. That's why all my pieces are oven safe!

Surface design is what I enjoy most - carving various designs through a layer of colour slip to create meaning in my pieces. I particularly enjoy carving whales and owls; mysterious and elusive animals.
