The art itself is wonderfully done and the glass works great for dry erase messages. My only complaint is with the frame - it was faded in areas (I requested the black one). I ended up giving it a new coat of paint before giving it to my friend as a gift. No problems with the seller - communicated well through out the purchasing and shipping process.

Great shipping time, and awesome quality! Got it for the boyfriend who loves memes and is a huge Batman fan, so it fits perfectly in our batcave.

About

Breaking Out with New Art!

I have been an artist for years but recently I invented an entirely new process for mimicking the look of ceramic-tile mosaic using paper instead! This new medium has the look of glassy, tile mosaic but is light-weight, and easy to hang. You also don't have to worry about cracking it by just moving it. This new medium is very durable but is meant as Fine Art so do not put it outside or as a backsplash to your tub. Although heavily protected, it is still just paper ;).

I am exploring subject matter to apply my new paper mosaic process to so I welcome any ideas that you may have for upcoming pieces and am very open to looking at special orders/commissions. Get in touch any time!

I am a Mount Allison Fine Arts graduate. I currently live and create in the valley surrounding Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I have developed my own, unique process to create paper tile mosaic. I love nature and geeky stuff.

Hello and thank you for visiting my shop. Please look around and let me know what you like, even if you aren't buying. Let others know what you like. Who knows? You may get surprised on your birthday ;).

I have been a full-time artist for the last few years but I have been producing art for over 20 years. Now, after 20 years of working in and owning my own graphic design and marketing business, I have returned to the world of art. Hopefully, for good.

It was a chance meeting between my art teacher and guidance counselor in high school that re-directed me from a career in hard science to scrambling to get a portfolio together to apply to art schools. After graduating from the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Mount Allison University, I never looked back and have maintained some aspect of artistic creation in my life, even when owning my own business.

Early on, I was fascinated by two main things: incorporating non-traditional, often recycled materials into my art; and fish. I loved the idea of turning discarded and broken things into new things to be loved and perhaps looked at in ways they never had been. I also loved the endless variety of fish and the impossible job of trying to capture their solemn, surprised, happy, and endless other looks. I still return to fish now and again to reattempt this work.

Recently, I have been captured by the beauty and vibrancy of classic tile-mosaic. With their scaly, colorful exterior, there were several of my fish works that I wanted to convert into this medium. But I had no idea where to start having never worked with any of the materials or processes used with tile mosaic. I could try to learn or I could stick with what I know.

In the end, I developed a totally new and unique process where I use various papers (many hand made using natural plant fibers, dyes and leaves), and acrylic gel to create the illusion of tile-mosaic. It worked out better than I could have planned. I ended up with something that gave me the look I wanted but without any of the challenges that traditional tile mosaic presents. The artwork is light, simple to hang or transport and easy to keep clean with a damp cloth. Unlike traditional tile mosaic I can do large pieces that are as convenient to move to a show or patrons home as any acrylic piece.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
First and foremost I will always work to make my patrons happy. I have a couple of options:

1) Insurance can be purchased for any items shipped out to protect against loss or damage during shipping.

2) I am willing to accept items back and return the payment as long as:
a) the item is post marked for return no later than 5 business days after receipt
b) the item is returned in the same condition it was received. If there are concerns about damage during the return trip then I recommend the purchaser take pictures of its condition prior to shipping it out.
c) the purchaser understands that they are responsible for shipping costs, both ways.

3) I have a commitment to long term relationships with my patrons. So, I am willing to TRY and repair any item that gets damaged moderately during ownership, if it is possible, FREE OF COST. You will need to cover shipping costs both ways and understand I can't work magic, but if it is possible to repair it, I will do my best. The last thing I want is for one of my works to end up in a landfill or buried in an attic somewhere because of a scratch on the frame.
Payment
At present, I accept the following methods of payment:

Pay Pal

Money Order

Cheque

Etsy will not let us set up payment through credit card without a U.S. billing address. Sorry about that.

Please keep in mind that if you choose a method such as money order or cheque that I will need to wait until the payment method clears before I can ship the product out.
Shipping
Most sales will be shipped within 2 business days of receiving the order AND confirming payment. I am sorry but for payments like money orders or cheques I will need to receive them and have them clear before shipping can happen.

Priority mail service is available as well but will obviously increase shipping costs. Contact me to work out details.

International
I have no problem arranging international shipping but it is impossible for me to quote prices ahead of time as there is much variety between global locations and the size of the artwork makes a big difference. Contact me and we will figure it out.

All artworks can be insured up to the value of the item and the shipping price does not show this as insurance varies from product to product. Let me know if you want insurance on shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
All of my artworks are handmade, from start to finish. As all artworks are edition sets you will receive one of those editions. Unlike prints I am going through the entire creative process, minus design, for each item. There will be very slight variation from piece to piece in a series.

At times there are slight changes made to the minor papers in an artwork. Major changes will be published prior to placing them for sale.

Color can vary from monitor to monitor so you may see a slight difference in your work than what you saw online.

Like nearly all artworks direct or strongly reflected sunlight should be avoided. Works exposed to direct or strong light may see some fading. It shouldn't dramatically change the nature of the work but it will be noticeable.

Unlike traditional tile-mosaic, my mosaics are not proofed against water or other elements. It is best to think of them and treat them as you would an acrylic painting. However, it is fine to wipe them with a damp cloth or dust them without concern.

If you have any questions or concerns about my work, please contact me.
