You're not Broken, You're Becoming....
Hi, I'm Celina. I'm an LPN, an artist, and the founder of Artful Design LLC — a creative studio in Portland, Oregon making journals, art prints, and gifts for women on healing journeys.
The story behind this shop
I grew up in a high-control religion and left at 23 with a young daughter and very little else. I've spent the years since then doing what so many women have done quietly: rebuilding. Studying. Recovering. Raising children. Loving deeply. Losing people. Beginning again.
Somewhere along the way, I learned that the cracks were never the problem. They were the doorway.
ArtfulDesign was born from that learning. Every piece in this shop is rooted in wabi sabi — the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in the imperfect, the impermanent, the weathered, and the becoming. The vase in my logo holds a gold seam down its center, inspired by kintsugi — the art of mending broken pottery with gold so the breaks become the most beautiful part of the whole.
Who this is for
I make things for women like you. For the nurses on twelve-hour shifts. For the therapists holding other people's grief. For the mothers re-learning who they are. For the women leaving high-control faith communities, recovering from trauma, or quietly starting over. For the neurodivergent women and girls who have spent too long masking who they are.
Whatever brought you here — I see you. I made these for you.
How I work
Every design begins on a slow morning walk along Cedar Mills Creek with my Australian Shepherd, Everest. I draw, I journal, I dance in the kitchen. My practice spans pyrography, soft chalk pastels, and acrylic painting. I work with print partners I trust — including Printify and U.S. manufacturers I've personally vetted — so my designs reach you as beautifully as I imagined them.
Thank you for choosing something handmade with intention. Thank you for being part of this.
