I love it all!

I have been collecting things for over 20 years - back before vintage was vintage (when it was just "old stuff"). I love to rescue things from certain death at the landfill and to bring new life to things that other people think are worthless.

I've taught myself some upholstery as a necessity; the best gift I've bought myself in recent years was a pneumatic stapler!

Some of my favourite things are kitchen bits and bobs, including table sets. It's possible I have ten in my "keep" pile at any given time...

So grateful that I was able to turn this love of vintage and upcycling into my full time job. Thanks for coming along for the ride :)

Thanks for visiting! I love words, so please excuse so many of them in my policies ;) That said, I'm always happy to answer questions before you make your purchase so please always feel free to send a message. I believe I've covered everything in detail and if you read item descriptions and policies we should both end up happy. Please note that some items have a choice of quantity/colour/pattern etc and may be priced separately. I often use props in my photos, unless it explicitly states in the description that an item is included in the sale, it is not.

Returns and exchanges

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

Returns and exchange details
All items are pre-owned so therefore sold as-is, what you see is what you get! Please READ THE DESCRIPTION, examine photos closely, and ask questions before purchasing. A certain amount of wear is expected on vintage items; if you are the type who examines things with a magnifying glass for flaws, please know that I assess them with a slightly more critical eye than a "man on the street" but I am not describing things to magnifying glass standards because every item would sound far worse than it is. Returns only accepted if there is a major discrepancy between the description and the product received.

EU Buyers: You have 14 days from receipt of purchase to contact me regarding returns rather than 3.
Local Buyers (who opt for free local pickup): You have 7 days from purchase to pick up your item unless prior arrangements are agreed upon; after 7 days a storage fee of $3/day will apply, to be paid upon pickup. You may request return only at time of pickup.
All other buyers: Return shipping will be at the expense of the buyer and must include insurance that covers loss and breakage; you must also be able to provide proof of shipping (such as tracking).
Payment
Canadian residents I will also accept Interac money transfers - please contact me for today's rate in Canadian, payment must be made within 24 hours by this method. I will adjust listing for you to pay by this method.

**I am in the process of converting all of my listings to being calculated shipping, please be patient while I work on it! It will ultimately mean the most accurate shipping costs for you, the buyer and make it easy to choose the shipping method you prefer**

USD? BUT AREN'T YOU IN CANADA??
The currency of choice for Etsy is the USD, most of my customers come from the United States. For this reason I list in USD and have to charge shipping in it as well. The problem is that the exchange rates fluctuate. A few short years ago, we were at par, now one Canadian dollar is worth about .77 US (May 2018).

FOR THE PURPOSES OF SHIPPING I WILL CONSIDER THE DOLLARS TO BE AT PAR

Usually what this means is that for listings that don't use calculated shipping, I will round down to a middle-ish point and a nice even number; if I was to literally do it at par I would probably never sell anything because my shipping prices would be too high. This method ultimately helps keep costs down because if I had to constantly update my prices to reflect current exchange and postal rates I'd have to raise my prices to cover my time. I typically use the shipping calculator from within Etsy itself to get my shipping amounts, it seems to be a bit hit and miss with accuracy.

BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOU, THE BUYER?
I'm glad you asked! If, when I ship your item there is more than $2 difference (again, the at par thing) in what you paid and what it costs me, I will refund anything OVER that $2. It is not my intention or desire to profit off shipping costs; this is just what I have discovered to be the best for everyone. I just chalk that first $2 possible difference up to the fact that I don't have a handling charge. **If a postal method doesn't include tracking/insurance, I will insure it using InsurePost, this adds approx $1.60US per $100 worth of goods/shipping - this amount will not show up as postage paid on the package because it is paid separately by me but is considered part of the shipping cost.

WHAT ABOUT COMBINED SHIPPING?
Also glad you asked that! Sometimes combining shipping saves you a lot, sometimes it doesn't - a lot depends on the size of the box and their arbitrary weight tipping points (500g, 1kg etc). PLEASE PAY FOR YOUR ITEMS AND THEIR STATED SHIPPING AND KNOW THAT I WILL REFUND BASED ON ABOVE STATEMENTS. Again, its not my goal to make money off of your shipping.

FUN FACTS ABOUT CANADA POST!
*They often charge just as much or more to ship within Canada as to ship to the US!
*Many of their services don't include tracking! (If this is the case with your purchase I can take a photo showing it with its postage and your address if you'd like)
*A big part of what they charge for is the size of the box! This means, a well packed glass piece that requires a large or double box but ultimately doesn't weigh a lot will cost the same to mail as a small heavy box.
*Purchases can take around 3 weeks to reach the US. I don't understand why either.

INTERNATIONAL:
Unfortunately, shipping from Canada to other countries can be crazy expensive, ESPECIALLY if you want/need a tracking number. It can also take 3-4 months (surface post, which is the cheapest option). What I have done in the past is take a picture of it and sent it to the buyer once it's at the post office with the postage on it; this way you know it wasn't me that was evil if it doesn't make it to you in a timely manner. If I am able to ship for less than I quote you, I will refund anything over the first $2 difference (same at par considerations). **If a postal method doesn't include tracking/insurance, I may insure it using InsurePost, this adds approx $1.60US per $100 worth of goods/shipping - this amount will not show up as postage paid on the package because it is paid separately by me but is considered part of the shipping cost. Refunds for packages that don't turn up cannot be processed until maximum ship times have been exhausted.

DAMAGE DURING SHIPPING
I typically aim to pack like Ace Ventura himself was to be delivering your packages (google that if you don't know, it's good for a laugh!). If your package does arrive broke, please take photos of the damaged packaging, ideally before and during the opening process and save all packaging. I will need you to provide these photos in order to make an insurance claim; failure to fill out required paperwork from the insurance company may also result in claim not being able to be paid out.

I USE A MIX OF NEW AND RECYCLED SHIPPING MATERIALS - this means I am able to pass the savings on to you whenever possible in lower costs on my items.

Care instructions

Most, if not all, of the items I sell are vintage. This means that in some cases, depending on the finish/fabric that even water may damage the item. Items are sold as-is and unfortunately I cannot be responsible for damage that may occur if you attempt to clean an item. That said, I try to be very up front about item condition in all descriptions so you know what you're getting into!

Sizing details

Clothing items:
Most items are measured lying flat. Should there be things like bust darts I will try to make note of my impressions of how that impacts size. Please always feel free to send me a message to ask for more details so you can feel confident in your purchase.
Qualifiers like S/M/L/etc are an impression only since no universal standard sizing exists.

Non-clothing items:
All measurements are approximate. Meaning, of course I have a general grasp of how to use a tape measure, but sometimes it's hard to get a precise number. If the item you are considering has an ultra specific sized space that it must fit into, please let me know and have me reconfirm measurements before purchasing.

Why do you have so many words on everything?

Well, simply put, because I have to prepare for the most absurd things that might come up. Ask any friend you have that sells online for their "war stories"!
