I started resale shopping out of a craving for quality. With the rise of fast fashion and mass factory production, it was becoming increasingly rare to find pieces that would last me more than a season. Designer vintage gave me access to beautiful, impeccably made clothing at a price I could afford. And the more I learned about the excessive waste, cruelty and exploitation behind so many mass produced brands, my choice to shop resale also became an ethical one. As my passion (and my collection) grew, I decided it was time to turn my hobby into a business. And with that came the birth of Bonaquest - a play on my stylish Grandmother’s maiden name, ‘Bonaquist’ and a nod to my obsession for finding beautiful things in unlikely places.
My goal with Bonaquest is to encourage vintage buying as a real alternative to buying new Vintage doesn't have to be dowdy, overtly dated or costumey. I seek out high quality, re-trending pieces that will last a lifetime and can be easily integrated into your existing wardrobe. And I shop for each piece as if it were for my personal collection - with the highest standards for quality, authenticity and wearability. The majority of my items come from private estates and have been worn very gently, if at all. If minors repairs are needed, I invest in the services of a professional tailor to maintain the integrity of each piece. I want your vintage piece to look and feel like new! If I wouldn’t wear it, I don’t buy it - that means no funny smells, holes, pills or stains and no itchy fabrics.
Bonaquest's focus is primarily on near contemporary clothing and accessories from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Designers in heavy rotation include: Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Mugler, Emanuel Ungaro, Escada, Louis Feraud, Guy Laroche, Ralph Lauren, DKNY & Michael Hoban.
