Unique and Beautiful Vintage

I came relatively late to my love of vintage - in my early 30s - but I've always loved to play with clothes, and never wanted to "look like everyone else." In high school I wore my mother's 1960s silk scarves and my grandmother's costume jewelry, but the idea of "vintage" wasn't on my radar.

When I fell for vintage a few years ago, though, I fell hard. At first, I collected for myself - the demands of a full-time job and two toddlers confined my vintage hunt to sites like Etsy. But in 2013, my family moved to Austin, Texas--and once again, I fell hard. With my kids in school, I began exploring my new city while I looked for a new job. On a whim, I went to my first estate sale, and from then on, I was hooked. There was so many wonderful things to find, I couldn't keep them all to myself - and that's how Bat City Vintage was born.

After three years in Austin, we moved back to the Washington, D.C. area, and now I scour Virginia, Maryland, and the District for the best, most interesting pieces (mostly for women, but I stock a few men's items, too). I have a particular weakness for mid-century purses and hats (that's me and my youngest daughter modeling some of our finds in my profile picture), and particularly for Bakelite jewelry!

I love the hunt and I love sending the things I find on to new lives!

Welcome to Bat City Vintage, your source for beautiful vintage jewelry and accessories!

I hope to bring you pieces that you will enjoy wearing as much as I enjoyed finding them.

A few things to note:

Most of my vintage items come from estates, where they may have been improperly stored or packed away for many years. When possible, I will hand wash items. In other cases, I may leave things as found, but I will always note any loose or missing stones, scratches, or other issues.

Remember that although I strive to find items in the best vintage condition possible, all vintage is pre-loved and as such, may have normal wear and tear. Again, I will always be as descriptive and honest as possible about an item's condition, and will include detailed photographs.
