Ich lebe in einem abgelegenen Teil der Shetlandinseln, wo ich schreibe, koche, Gitarre spiele, gelegentlich Radiosendungen mache und visuelle Kunst zu Küsten-, See- und Inselthemen produziere.

Nur wenige Meter vom Meer entfernt, sind einige der Werke einfache Gemälde. Andere verwenden Muscheln, Steine, Treibholz, Seeglas, Meereskunststoffe, Metall und Knochen, die alle sorgfältig gereinigt, desinfiziert und oft mit Acryl, Pastell, Buntstift und Aquarell modifiziert wurden.

Viele sind auf ballachulischem Schiefer montiert, obwohl einige auf Treibholz sind. Einige kommen mit Kupferdrahthängen. In letzter Zeit habe ich mich in Richtung traditionellerer Malstile bewegt. Meine Arbeiten befinden sich in Sammlungen in Großbritannien und den USA.

Ich verkaufe auch gelegentlich seltene Bücher und manchmal Gemälde von anderen Leuten.

I live in a remote part of the Shetland Islands, where I write, cook, play the guitar, make the occasional radio show and produce visual art on coastal, maritime and island themes.

Made only metres from the sea, some of the works are straightforward paintings. Others use shell, stone, driftwood, seaglass, marine plastics, metal and bone, all carefully cleaned, disinfected and often modified with acrylics, pastels, crayon and watercolour.

Many are mounted on Ballachulish slate, though some are on driftwood. A few come with copper wire hangings. Of late I have moved toward more traditional painting styles. My work is in collections in the UK and USA.

I also sell the occasional rare book and sometimes paintings by other folk.
