Soy un artista de pasteles y un diseñador gráfico con mucho tiempo para hacer tantas cosas geniales de arte, ¡es genial! De acuerdo, a quién engañamos, ahora soy una mamá con apenas tiempo libre, y mucho menos tiempo para usar el baño en paz. Desde el trabajo, lavar la ropa, cocinar y asegurarme de que mi hijo permanezca en este planeta, lo hago todo.

Al principio, pasé mucho tiempo buscando inspiración para actividades que involucraran a mi hijo (y me ayudaran a pasar el tiempo). Como artista, me gusta que las cosas sean estéticamente agradables. Creo que los niños deben usar materiales y herramientas reales. Entonces, al crear actividades para mi hijo, elegí específicamente piezas que fueran de mi estilo (ya que tengo que mirarlas constantemente) y que fueran artículos de calidad. Le hice un contenedor sensorial de arroz y un miembro de la familia me pidió que hiciera uno para su hija. Luego otro. Así nació Bird Builds. Pasar de ser un pedorro artístico en toda regla a una madre a tiempo completo, parte de mi alma creativa se perdió en el camino. Ya no puedo sentarme durante horas todos los días a trabajar en una pieza de pastel, pero la lluvia de ideas, la creación y la selección de productos aquí me ayudan a satisfacer esa picazón creativa.

I am a pastel artist and graphic designer with loads of time to do so many cool art things, it's great! Okay, who are we kidding, I'm a mom now with barely any free time, let alone time to use the bathroom in peace. From work, to laundry, to cooking, and making sure my son stays on this planet, I do it all.

Early on I spent a lot of time looking for inspiration of activities to engage my son (and help me pass time) Being an artist I like things to be aesthetically pleasing. I believe kids should use real materials and tools. So when creating activities for my son I specifically picked pieces that were my style (since I have to stare at them constantly) and were quality items. I made him a rice sensory bin and was asked by a family member to make one for their daughter. Then another one. This is how Bird Builds was born. Going from full blown artsy fartsy to full time mom part of my creative soul got lost along the way. I can no longer sit for hours every day working on a pastel piece, but the brainstorming, creating and curating of products here helps me scratch that creative itch.
