Olá!

Eu sou Antonia... o fundador da BumpyCrafts e bumpyyarn.

Acabamos de nos mudar de volta para nosso país natal, Reino Unido e agora temos sorte e empolgação por morar em Worthing.

Tudo começou há 9 anos, saí de casa no Reino Unido e me mudei para a Alemanha com meu marido e, na época, meus trigêmeos de 12 anos. Embora estivéssemos animados para começar nossa nova vida, ao longo dos anos, tivemos que enfrentar alguns desafios sem família ou amigos para nos apoiar.

Esses desafios criaram muito estresse para mim, mas descobri que meu hobby anterior de tricô e crochê me ajudou a regular minha ansiedade, felicidade e humor.

Há uma conexão comprovada entre tricô e crochê e ser calmo e feliz, além disso, o aspecto social dos hobbies de fios também ajuda minha saúde mental, encontrando-se com outros entusiastas de fios ou conversando nas mídias sociais e compartilhando meus últimos projetos

Como eu fiz mais, descobri que estava ficando desorganizado e percebi que precisava de uma bolsa de projeto que não só armazenasse meu projeto, mas também organizaria todos os meus extras... fita métrica, padrão, tesoura, noções etc. Eu senti que se meu projeto fosse alojado corretamente, então eu teria uma mente mais organizada.

Mas apesar de olhar por todo o lado, não achei aquele saco de projeto perfeito... então eu criei o meu próprio. Então eu pensei que talvez outras pessoas gostariam de um também e foi quando BumpyCrafts nasceu.

Trabalho com meu ajudante Snowy, nosso cão Westiepoo! Ela está sempre comigo quando estou trabalhando, me fazendo companhia. Normalmente, ela vai deitar pelos meus pés dormindo, mas às vezes ela vai bater minha perna com o nariz, então eu sei que ela quer algo, daí seu apelido Bumpy... e o nome da empresa!

Eu amo começar um novo projeto e me certifico de que cada um em que estou trabalhando tenha uma bolsa específica, para que eu possa organizá-lo e eu mesmo organizado, (além disso, me impede de me ajoelhar em tesoura, isso é uma coisa muito real!) Eu sei que muitos de vocês sentem o mesmo e é por isso que eu crio muitos estilos e tamanhos diferentes.

Decidi começar o BumpyYarn quando comprei meu primeiro fio tingido à mão. As cores, singularidade e maciez dos fios, me fisgaram! Fios luxuosos tingidos à mão é um verdadeiro deleite. É um investimento maravilhoso para comprar fios de qualidade. Quando dou algo que fiz, sei que o destinatário sentirá a maciez e a qualidade dos fios e que ele vai durar.

Usar fios naturais de boa qualidade, de origem local, que são uma fonte renovável e usar algodão para minhas bolsas de projeto, que é biodegradável, ajuda o meio ambiente. Isso é importante para mim. O que fazemos hoje, dando pequenos passos, fará uma diferença positiva na proteção do nosso meio ambiente para nossas crianças e para o futuro do planeta!

Gosto de tingir BumpyYarns com um tema em mente, inspirando-se no mundo ao meu redor, ou uma memória ou filme favorito ou programa de TV. Às vezes pode ser um nome que aciona uma forma de cores única. Estudei arte e design de moda na faculdade, e sei que meu amor pela arte desempenha um papel importante nas escolhas de cores que faço. A alegria que me traz criando os fios, espero que reflita no produto acabado. BumpyYarn não é produzido em massa, é criado com amor em pequena escala.

Comecei a desenhar padrões de tricô. Esta é uma saída criativa desafiadora para mim, realmente faz meu cérebro funcionar! Todos os padrões são completamente testados.

Outro aspecto do negócio que é importante para mim é a inclusão. Os hobbies dos fios não discriminam, todos nós podemos nos beneficiar do relaxamento e alegria que eles trazem. Eu quero que bumpycrafts seja um lugar acolhedor e inclusivo as pessoas podem comprar, sabendo que estão fazendo uma compra para si mesmas que vai ajudá-los com o estresse diário da vida.

Tenho uma coleção na minha loja para o PRIDE. Uma porcentagem das vendas dessa coleção vai para apoiar a saúde mental na comunidade LGBTQ+. Esta é uma parte importante do meu negócio, todos temos o direito de escolher quem amamos. Espero que vocês gostem dos fios, sacos de projeto e acessórios que faço para esta coleção.

I’m Antonia…the founder of BumpyCrafts and BumpyYarn.

We have just relocated back to our home Country, UK and are now lucky and excited to be living in Worthing.

It all started 9 years ago, I left my home in the UK and moved to Germany with my husband and, at the time, my 12 year-old triplets. Although we were excited to start our new life, over the years, we have had to face some challenges without family or friends to support us.

These challenges created a lot of stress for me, but I found that my previous hobby of knitting and crochet helped me regulate my anxiety, happiness and mood.

There is a proven connection between knitting and crocheting and being calm and happy, plus the social aspect of yarn hobbies also helps my mental health by meeting up with other yarn enthusiasts or chatting on social media and sharing my latest projects

As I did more, I found I was getting disorganised and I realised I needed a project bag that would not only store my project, but would also organise all my extras… tape measure, pattern, scissors, notions etc. I felt that if my project was housed properly, then I would have a more organised mind.

But despite looking all over the place, I couldn’t find that perfect project bag…so I created my own. Then I thought maybe other people would want one too and that is when BumpyCrafts was born.

I work with my sidekick Snowy, our Westiepoo pooch! She is always with me when I am crafting, keeping me company. Normally, she will lie by my feet sleeping, but on occasion she will bump my leg with her nose, so I know she wants something, hence her nickname Bumpy…and the name of the company!

I love starting a new project and I make sure each one I’m working on has a specific bag, so that I can get it and myself organised, (plus it stops me kneeling on scissors, this is a very real thing!) I know many of you feel the same and that’s why I create lots of different styles and sizes.

I decided to start BumpyYarn when I purchased my first hand-dyed yarn. The colours, uniqueness and softness of the yarn, got me hooked! Luxury hand-dyed yarn is a real treat. It is a wonderful investment to purchase quality yarn. When I gift something I have made, I know the recipient will feel the softness and quality of the yarn and that it will last.

Using good quality, locally sourced natural yarns which are a renewable source and using cotton for my project bags, which is biodegradable, helps the environment. This is important to me. What we do today, taking small steps, will make a positive difference in protecting our environment for our children and the planet´s future!

I like to dye BumpyYarns with a theme in mind, taking inspiration from the world around me, or a memory or favourite movie or tv show. Sometimes it can be a name that triggers a unique colour way. I studied art and fashion design at college, and I know that my love of art plays an important role in the colour choices I make. The joy it brings me creating the yarns, I hope reflects in the finished product. BumpyYarn is not mass produced, it is created with love on a small scale.

I have started to design knitting patterns. This is a challenging creative outlet for me, it really gets my brain working! All patterns are thoroughly tested.

Another aspect of the business that is important to me is inclusivity. Yarn hobbies do not discriminate, we can all benefit from the relaxation and joy they bring. I want BumpyCrafts to be a welcoming inclusive place people can shop, knowing they are making a purchase for themselves that will help them with the daily stresses of life.

I have a collection in my shop for PRIDE. A percentage of sales from this collection goes to support mental health in the LGBTQ+ community. This is an important part of my business, we all have a right to choose who we love. I hope you will enjoy the yarns, project bags and accessories I make for this collection.
