How my macrame journey began
Hi, I'm Ariel, and I LOVE macramé!
My macramé journey began when I wanted a pair of plant hangers for my kitchen bay windows. Instead of buying them, I decided to challenge myself and make one.
My very first plant hanger was simple—just four pieces of jute tied with twelve basic knots. I was amazed at how quickly it came together, and that one project sparked a new passion. I couldn't wait to learn more! I spent hours researching new knots and techniques, and with every project my skills grew.
Before long, our home was filled with macramé—plant hangers in the windows, tapestries on the walls, and handmade pieces everywhere I looked. What started as a fun project quickly became a true passion. I found myself thinking about my next design throughout the day and even waking up in the middle of the night with new ideas.
Then one morning, something happened that I never thought would: I woke up and headed straight to my macramé before even making my coffee! That's when I knew I had found the perfect name for my shop—But First Macrame.
One of the things I love most about macramé is that the creative possibilities are truly endless. With countless patterns, knots, and designs to explore, every piece I create is handmade, one of a kind, and crafted with care.
