Inspired by lost history

- ABOUT -
CABOOSE CO. is a handmade line of ceramics by artist Sarah Hamelin.
Each piece is handmade with the intention of breathing new life into forgotten histories. Outdated functional wares and design methods of the 19th century and domestic rural-living are a source of inspiration.
Using clay as a medium is also a way to humbly address both the permanence and fleeting nature of human's relationship with the natural environment; An homage to vanitas still-life paintings.

Experimentation with analogue methods are used for building, decoration and firing.

Ceramics have allowed me to merge my love of sculpture, printmaking and history into functional works of art. I am currently studying Fine Ceramics at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design after receiving my BFA from the University of Waterloo.

As a general rule, don't expose ceramic pieces to sudden temperature changes (ie. hot to cold).

My pieces are dishwasher safe, and oven safe as long as it's put in the oven at room temperature before preheating. Microwaves are OK for nuking at short periods of time.
