About CarlaDyck

Sales 510
On Etsy since 2010

As a visual artist, I use digital photography to capture the beauty in the ordinary.

Predominantly, my family and faith are my greatest influencers in life and also my art. My life has been touched, challenged and seasoned by mental illness within the family. This joins together with my faith in a good God to inform my thinking and also my seeing. I've learned to look deeper than what is afforded at first glance. The ordinary and overlooked are worth a slowing to see more, to see their beauty.

Several years ago, I decided to share my 'seeing' with the world by way of an Etsy shop. Slowly, I began to add images to my shop. At times, I would try and take pictures in line with what was trendy, popular. Most often, these particular images did not translate into anything beautiful. They had no soul because they were not true to what I saw, to who I was.

I came away from that and have since maintained the strategy of sharing the beauty that I see. To further determine which pictures will be placed on Etsy, I will often print a picture and put it together with others on my inspiration board. This board sits directly across from me at the dinner table. I see the pictures often, in different lights. Sometimes the pictures will stay for awhile and inspire my thinking and even help me reflect on my own life and thought processes. These are the images that will most often find their way into my Etsy shop. Other times, a picture may not last on my board for more than a day or two. These will not make it to the Etsy cut!
