A creatively chaotic partnership by long-time best-friends.

A creatively chaotic partnership by long-time best-friends. We began CMbLS at a time when both of us had left the corporate world. Sandra has since returned to that work, but continues to create beautiful 1-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery, as well as providing her own unique artwork on our Doodled Denim line and running the shop when I put on my travelling hat.

Along with hand-painting, dyeing, drawing and stitching fabric creations, I work with photography to create my PhotoFabs. Designed from my photos taken at home or in my frequent travels; sometimes my fabrics will be clearly recognisable to my original image, at other times I have fun in Photoshop and it takes me in a different direction, most often a colourful one! My final fabric design is then digitally printed on fabrics I love!

My PhotoFabs are part of an ongoing fabric creation obsession and focus to create Wearable Art.

We run the business from our homes, the cottage, as well as on our travels. I spend a considerable amount of time over the last few years in India, a country that continues to fascinate and inspire both of us and now design custom trips to this fabulous country, both escorted and non-escorted.

We are committed to responsible citizenship, in particular to the areas that inspire us and our creations. Each and every piece we create and sell also gives back.

5% of profits from our sales are collected for our Jhurjhura Fund. At the
end of the year the money raised is donated to grass-roots efforts surrounding children, forests, wildlife and tiger conservation in India. In 2016 we donated to the wonderful Sunshine Project Organization in Delhi that works to ensure education for street children of the area.

Returns and exchange details
Your satisfaction is my #1 PRIORITY!

If you are not satisfied with your order, please send us a Convo as soon as possible! We will do our best to make you a happy customer, including refunds for non-custom items, provided you contact us within 14 days of delivery and the item has not been used, worn or damaged.

Items must be shipped back within 14 days of contacting us, complete with all enclosed materials and items. If all enclosed items are not included, a Cdn$5.00 handling fee will apply against the refund. Qualifying refunds will be made upon receipt of the returned item.

Return shipping costs are paid by the buyer.

We're sorry, but CUSTOM ORDERS are final and can not be refunded. We will stay in touch with you throughout the custom order process to ensure satisfaction.

Original shipping costs outside North America, and for any expedited or rush shipping costs requested by the buyer are paid by the buyer.

Original regular shipping costs will be refunded, if shipped within North America.

We can not take responsibility for lost/damaged packages that are shipped back to us. We recommend you provide us with the return tracking number to facilitate this.

ORDER CANCELLATIONS:

Full refunds and order cancellation for non-custom orders can be issued, if you contact me WITHIN 12 HOURS of placing the order.

After 12 hours, but BEFORE you receive a shipping notification, refunds will be issued, minus a $5 handling fee - applies to non-custom orders only.

If you have any specific requests for pashminas and shawls (size, fabric type or base color - white pashminas are hard to find, but I can often get complimentary light colors to dye later for you if specific colors are looked for), or special orders of my digital print designs, let me know by April 7, 2019.

PLEASE NOTE: Recipients of orders shipped internationally (outside Canada) will be responsible for any taxes, duties or other customs fees that may be required at delivery.

HOW CUSTOM ORDERS WORK

1) After your purchase is completed, we will begin the design process.

2) I will work with you on any revisions until you are happy with your final design.

3) IT IS IMPORTANT that you please read/review your proofs very carefully! Once you approve the final proof, we can not be responsible for errors, typos, changes, etc. after this point.

4) Once a proof is approved:
*** Digital Printed Fabrics will take 2-3 weeks to print and sew. Rush orders are often possible, but additional fees may apply. Please ensure you let me know of any deadlines you are trying to meet.
*** Hand-painted Pashminas. The delicate fibres of the cashmere pashmina make the abstract art painted on them extremely variable. The final piece will be in line with the overall feel of the design chosen, and with the colours chosen, however, it will never look exactly like other pieces and makes your piece truly a one-of-a-kind treasure.

5) I try my best to represent the COLOURS as accurately as possible, and regularly calibrate my screen to reflect this, however, all computer monitors show colours slightly differently and the final printed product may vary slightly from what you see on your screen. If you have any questions or concerns about colours, please let me know.

FAQs

Q: I want to send this as a gift, do you do anything different for gifts?
A: Absolutely! I can ship to a different address and include a gift card, with your message on it. My packaging is carefully wrapped, but birthday or holiday wrapping paper is also possible. Just let me know in the note section of your order and/or send me a Convo within 24 hours of your purchase.

Q: Can you digitally print an image on the Cashmere Pashminas?
A: No. Unfortunately the delicate and soft fibres of the cashmere pashmina make it unable to take the printing process. If you have a personal image you wanted to have on the Pashmina, why not print it on a Pashmina Pocket to give with the luxurious pashmina? An amazing personalized gift!

Q: What is your digital printing process?
A: My PhotoFabs are designed from my own photographs, or artwork. Once I'm happy with the fabric design, which I create in Photoshop, I set them up into the various patterns I will be sewing from, often with cut and sew lines factored in. This allows me to be a Zero Waste shop, as over 90% of my fabrics are used. The dyes used are bio-degradable and printing process is environmentally responsible.

Q: Are you a smoke-free/pet-free shop?
A: We are completely smoke free but are happily supervised by our pets! All efforts will be made to avoid pet hair on your product, but if you should notice any, consider it a bonus :-)

Q: Are you environmentally responsible?
A: Environmental and ethical concerns are first for me. As a nature lover I see first hand the issues facing our natural world. My dyes are environmentally safe, even for septic systems! Virtually all the acid dyes are exhausted into the fabrics. I am a Zero Waste shop. I design my pieces to use virtually all of the fabrics I print. The small pieces that remain are shared with wool/silk felting artists, or used as stuffings for other items I make. My leggings are made in a Montreal shop. When the fabrics are printed, they are done so with other orders to maximise the energy and fabric use. I aim to use recycled material in my packaging, which is also in turn recyclable.

Q: Are your fabrics treated with anything?
A: No. We do not add any additional chemicals to our fabrics. They have not been treated with fire retardant chemicals and are for this reason not suitable for use in children's clothing or bedding.

I use only the very best quality materials. Fabrics and images I enjoy myself and that make me feel fantastic wearing and using. I am very picky when sourcing my base fabric, whether it's the 60gm weight silk crepe, 100% Indian cashmere pashminas, or recycled eco-canvas bags. Each are chosen for a specific feel and function.

CRAFTSWOMANSHIP
I am meticulous and a perfectionist when it comes to my pieces. It's why I don't machine sew the necklines of my ultra-fine silk butterfly tops. It may be faster, but I want the extra suppleness and drape a hand-rolled hem provides.
