Darcy in Color began with a backpack design. It was this random project that introduced me to the abundant possibilities of sewing and pattern design. Initially, I gravitated toward crafting bags for outdoor adventures. My love for bikepacking was blossoming at this time and I challenged myself to build my own bags for the sport. Friends in my community showed interest in my work and that’s when I started taking it more seriously. However, after a year of selling on Etsy, things tapered off as life got hectic and I began to rethink my brand and my goals. I wanted to move away from the particularities of gear specific and technical custom projects in order to have more freedom (and more fun) crafting my designs. My goal for this season of Darcy in Color is to create unique bags that optimize functionality, versatility and are comfortable enough to be your everyday companion.
