I started developing spreadsheets to help myself narrow down where my money was being spent since I was winding up with nearly zero dollars by the time the next paycheck rolled around. After tracking my expenses and getting a handle on things, I had to figure out what I should do with the extra money I was saving now.

Here's where I found myself reading every investment related book I could get my hands on. Eventually, the realization set in that I didn't have an easy way to plan my finances for the future without hiring a professional or buying an expensive program. So, I created a decent spreadsheet for myself to input my expenses, income, and savings so I could see what I would be getting in return down the road.

This developed into investing in the stock market and real estate. Naturally, after the personal finance spreadsheets helped my development, I created investments spreadsheets for myself as well.
