Doodle Pop began when I was pregnant with my third child. I started to make a large doodle mat for his birth announcement (in picture above). During the last few months of my pregnancy, I worked on commissions from different followers on Instagram, ranging from wedding doodles to remembrance doodles.
I was due to give birth to my son, Gabriel at the beginning of December. At 41 weeks, I went into hospital with reduced movements. After a while on a trace it was clear that Gabriel's heart beat was struggling with the contractions I was having. My waters were broken and I was left for two hours, to continue to monitor his heart rate. At 6:30pm, the midwife examined me and then tried to find Gabriel's heart beat as it was not being picked up.
She pressed 'the button' and doctors piled into the room, but none of them could find Gabriel's heartbeat. He had gone.
Gabriel was born on December 14th as a little angel.
10% from each doodle I make goes towards Fundraising for charities who support bereaved parents and families. In the last few months Gabriel’s Gift has donated to Tommy’s and Remember My Baby. I am also fundraising for a project I would like to begin where I donate little silver lockets to the hospital Gabriel was born in, for bereaved mother’s to take a little lock of their babies hair home. Each doodle helps to keep my son's memory alive and is gift to others.
