The “Ellis Studio” history goes back to my grandfather, who was an art teacher and an exceptional painter, drawer, stained-glass maker, and potter. My father is also a creative, meticulous wood-worker who built all of our furniture growing up -- every detail fine-tuned and delicate. For my own part, clay has always resonated deep within me. I did hand-building since childhood at the knee of my grandpa and into my teenage years. It wasn’t until 2010 that I started experimenting with wheel-thrown pottery as a pre-occupied engineering student. Then in 2013, I stumbled into a dear friend’s studio in Madison, WI and have never looked back. To me pottery isn’t just a product. It is art, family, humor, deep friendship, love, functionality, and ease. I hope you enjoy these humble creations.
