Hallo, ik ben Caren. Ik woon, wandel met mijn hond en fotografeer bloemen in de hoofdstad van ons land, Washington D.C. We hebben hier in het moeras soms een slechte reputatie, maar de waarheid is dat in de schaduw van het Capitool, waar ik woon en mijn gezin heb grootgebracht, een fantastische buurt ligt vol opmerkelijke tuinliefhebbers. Hun werk was de aanleiding voor mijn zoektocht, tijdens de pandemie, toen we snakten naar schoonheid als naar een drug en zo eenzaam waren dat we een hond namen. Sindsdien dienen zowel de hond als de bloemen als een constante herinnering, in een omgeving waar het makkelijk is om cynisch te zijn, dat er schoonheid en pure goedheid in de wereld bestaat. Sindsdien heb ik gereisd en mijn obsessie om te kijken, echt te kijken, naar wat de natuur voor ons heeft gemaakt, meegenomen naar andere delen van het land en de wereld. Ik hoop dat je geniet van wat ik heb ontdekt.

Hi, I’m Caren. I live, walk my dog, and take photos of flowers, in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. We get a bad rap here in the swamp sometimes, but the truth is in the shadow of the nation’s actual Capitol, where I live and raised a family, is a great neighborhood full off remarkable gardeners. It’s their work that started me on this journey, during the pandemic, when we craved beauty like a drug and were so lonely we got a dog. Since then, both the dog, and the flowers, serve as a constant reminder in a place where it is easy to be cynical that there is beauty, and pure goodness, in the world. Since then I’ve traveled and brought my obsession with looking, really looking, at what nature made for us, to other parts of the country and the world. I hope you enjoy what I’ve found.
