Siempre he creído que una celebración empieza mucho antes del día en sí; empieza en el momento en que llega la invitación. Soy Britt, una mamá de San Diego con una niña que me convirtió en organizadora profesional de fiestas de cumpleaños, me gustara o no (me gustaba). Entre sus fiestas y años de ser la anfitriona de la familia —las fiestas de bienvenida para bebés, los cumpleaños, las cenas que se convierten en algo más grande— me di cuenta de que la invitación siempre era algo secundario: un mensaje grupal apresurado o un papel que costaba una fortuna y terminaba en el reciclaje.

I’ve always believed a celebration starts long before the day itself — it starts the moment the invitation arrives. I’m Britt, a San Diego mom to a little girl who turned me into a professional birthday-party planner whether I liked it or not (I liked it). Between her parties and years of being the one in the family who hosts — the showers, the birthdays, the dinners that turn into something bigger — I noticed the invitation was always the afterthought: a rushed group text, or paper that cost a fortune and ended up in the recycling.
