Frequently asked questions
How is each artwork made?
Every artwork begins as a photograph of a real place: a harbour, a canyon, a city at night. The sky is lifted out, and every colour in the scene is set in order and rises as vertical bands where the sky was. Each canvas holds the colours of one place in a single calm field.
What's the difference between stretched canvas, classic frame and float frame?
Stretched canvas is frameless, with the image mirrored around the 38mm-deep sides. A classic frame (black, brown or white) is a traditional frame that wraps the canvas edge, on slimmer 19mm bars. A float frame (black, natural or white) holds the canvas in a slim frame with a small gap all round, so it appears to float; it's 38mm deep with black edges. Hanging hardware isn't included.
Which size should I choose?
Measure the wall space first. Above a sofa or sideboard, a canvas about two-thirds of the furniture's width looks balanced. Every size is listed in inches and centimetres, and the listing photos and videos show the artwork on a wall. Our largest size, 36 x 48 in, has its own listing for delivery within the UK.
How long will my order take?
Each canvas is made to order, so please allow 2–5 working days for it to be made. Delivery then takes about 2–4 working days in the UK, 3–7 to Europe and the United States, 5–10 to Australia, New Zealand and Canada, and 10–20 to Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia and the UAE. You'll get a tracking number when it ships.
Where is my canvas made, and will I pay customs?
Our print partner makes each canvas at its studio nearest to you: in the UK, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada or Australia. Most orders to the European Union, the United States and Australia are made in that region and arrive without customs charges. Orders to other countries may be subject to import duties or taxes set by the destination country, which are the buyer's to pay.
What if my canvas arrives damaged or isn't right?
Send us a message on Etsy with clear photos of the whole canvas and a close-up of the problem, ideally within 14 days of delivery. If it arrives damaged, misprinted or isn't what you ordered, we'll send a replacement at no cost, or refund you in full if a replacement isn't possible. We don't usually need the damaged item back. This doesn't affect your legal rights.
Can I return my canvas if I change my mind?
Every canvas is made especially for you, so we can't accept returns or exchanges if you change your mind. Please check the size, format and frame colour before you order. This doesn't affect your legal rights if an item is faulty or not as described.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, within 2 hours of buying: send us a message on Etsy and we'll cancel it. Your order goes to our print partner straight away, so after that it may already be in production and we can't stop it.
Will the colours match what I see on my screen?
Your canvas is printed from the same artwork you see in the photos, but every screen shows colour a little differently. A printed canvas reflects light rather than giving it off, so colours can look slightly softer than on a bright screen. Our images try to reflect the reality of the colour as much as possible.
Can you make a custom piece or a different size?
Not at the moment. We offer the artworks, sizes and formats you see in our shop. Our art process requires very specific requirements. However, we are looking to do this in the future.
