About

Exploring My Ancestry Through Art and Design

Gryphon Beadcraft is the natural result of my efforts to take up beading and leather working as a natural way to learn about and embrace my indigenous heritage. I created Gryphon Beadcraft as a way to clear out the stuff I was creating, and hopefully recoup some of the money I have invested into the effort.

The shop has done this and so much more. I have met all sorts of wonderful people through the shop and some of those connections have brought insights and knowledge about beading, leatherworking, and other aspects of traditional and modern indigenous life that would have been very difficult (or impossible) to discover completely on my own.

The new faces and new knowledge continue to flow in through my virtual "front door" and for that I am quite happy and very grateful.

I came to know and embrace my indigenous ancestry late in life. Gryphon Beadcraft is a result of my efforts to learn about, embrace, and restore the rich indigenous cultural heritage that my extended family has lost over the past century.

Welcome to Gryphon Beadcraft! This place is the outlet for my explorations into artistic designs inspired by traditional Native American designs, particularly those of the Métis, Cree, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee. My goal is to craft items that are intrinsically useful, and then to decorate them in a way similar to what native artisans have been doing for over 200 years.

In time, I will expand the designs to include other ethnic and cultural inspirations from my other ancestral lines as well.

Payment
I accept payment from PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, and Etsy Cards. Visa and MasterCard payments are processed through PayPal.

Items are shipped once full payment is received. Orders that have not shipped can be cancelled. Otherwise, all sales are final, though there may be exceptions that will be considered on a case by case basis. If you absolutely need to cancel or return an order for refund, please contact me.

If you are new to Etsy or otherwise need help in purchasing an item, please check this page for help: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/339
Shipping
Currently, I ship to addresses in the United States (including APO and FPO) and Canada, and most international addresses as allowed by regulation or law. Shipping rates are listed for each item, and assume shipment of that single item. If you wish to purchase multiple items at once, please contact me and we can work out what the total shipping amount will be. It will almost certainly be less than shipping each item individually.

Items will ship within 3 business days of receiving the order. If you need the item sooner, please contact me and I will see what I can do. I normally do not ship items through Express Mail.

Items are securely packed and should arrive intact. If your order somehow arrives damaged, then please contact me to discuss a solution. In most cases, I will probably ask that you send the item back and I will issue a refund. Since these items are handcrafted and generally unique, I will probably not be able to replace a damaged item, but I may be able to repair it to be as good as new. However, this will depend on the nature and scope of the damage to the item.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

I declare the purchase price as the value of items on the customs forms, and every order will be marked as "merchandise”. All duties, taxes and custom fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
