Announcement   November 2018 NOTICE: As many of you may already know, Canada Post has been on rotating strikes since late October. This has unfortunately resulted in the delay of delivery of packages. If your package has been delayed, it may be a result of the strike. We have been in contact with Canada Post and are monitoring the situation carefully. Please note our regular delivery times to North America may be up to 4 weeks.

From the Canada Post website: "Toronto is a key processing hub for mail and parcels in Canada. It was shut down by the union for two consecutive days in October and is now idle again due to the union’s strikes with no indication of when it will end. This will worsen the backlogs at our facilities and customers should expect delays of several days for mail or parcel deliveries. Prior to the union’s decision to target Toronto again, the number of trailers full of parcels and packets waiting to be unloaded and processed at a Canada Post facilities sat at over 150."

About

Just a lady with a slightly stressful day job making small batch soap!

All my life I've suffered from allergies and sensitivities, especially to what I put on my skin and to fragrances from commercial body products.

A few years back I decided there must be a better way! I wanted to be in control of the ingredients in my skin products. As a teenager I had learned to make soap at summer camp, so I decided to take it up again.

My day job is stressful and demanding, so I like to channel my energy into being creative! My passion lies in creating recipes after researching ingredients and learning how each one affects the feel and look of the final soap. I get my inspiration from other soapmakers and what I see in day to day life!

Thanks for checking out my store, I hope you come to love the art that is soap as much as I do!

Care instructions

Because we use biodegradable ingredients and no preservatives, it is ideal to use your product within 1 year of purchasing at most.

To help soaps last longer in the shower, store in a place with plenty of drainage (such as a soap dish) outside of the shower in between uses.

Store unused soap bars unwrapped in a cool dark place, ideally with air circulation. This allows the bar to stay fresher longer.

I have a skin condition, do you have any soaps that can treat it?

Our products are excellent if you are looking to show your skin some love, however if you have a diagnosed medical condition, sensitivity, allergy or frequent skin reactions, we recommend spot testing all products before applying all over. As our products are made at home by hand, they have not been developed to treat any medical skin conditions. If you have a medical skin condition, please follow the advice of a health care professional before buying. Our soaps are not suitable to cure or manage any medical skin conditions.

Are your products all-natural?

Natural: existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind. We believe this term is extremely broad, misleading and difficult to define. Unlike 'organic' which is strictly regulated by government organizations with clear standards, the term 'natural' is not. The FDA has not developed any rules or regulations on the defining features of what qualifies a product as "natural". So what's considered natural?
It would be misleading to say our soap was 100% natural, since the main ingredient we absolutely need to make soap, the lye, is a chemical.
All of our ingredients, synthetic and naturally occurring, are backed by research, certified non-toxic and skin-safe, as well as safe for the environment.

Do your soaps contain lye?

No, our final bars of soap do not contain lye. Soap is produced via a chemical reaction between lye and oils. After the reaction is through, all you're left with is a beautiful bar of soap and free oils for extra moisture. All the lye is used up in the process. Our bars are all ph tested before being sold to ensure there are no traces of lye.

I bought some soap and was not satisfied, what can you do for me?

While we think our soaps are pretty great, we understand that not everything agrees with your skin all the time! We offer a 100% money back guarantee, in accordance with Etsy's protocols. All that we ask is your feedback so we can improve :)

Are your palm products responsibly sourced?

Although we have chosen to use palm products in some of our soaps, we have also made the decision to purchase these from a supplier that can certify these products are sustainably sourced.

We also carry several palm-free bars!

I have very sensitive skin, is it possible to make lye-free soap?

If there was a way to make completely natural soap made only from coconut oil, olive oil and essential oils, we'd be making it right now! But this is unfortunately impossible. There is absolutely no way to make a bar soap without using lye. Soap that is advertised as 'lye-free' may be marketed to people who want to make soap without using lye themselves, in which case they can melt down blocks of pre-made soap that was originally made with lye. The other 'lye-free' possibilities are cleansers made by a more complex process with emulsifyers and humectants. Usually these are manufactured and not as easy to make at home. These are also not truly considered soap.

I have an allergy, is it safe to use your product?

Although our soaps are carefully made and quality controlled, they are handmade at our workshop. Unfortunately there is no way to ensure that our products have not come in contact with an allergen. It is impossible to make our workspace truly allergen free. There is a possibility that our soap may have come into contact with nuts, wheat, soy and dairy. If you have an allergy, we recommend that you read all labels thoroughly and spot test before using all over your body.
