Announcement    Nature inspires – Earth is beautiful!

Margaret Graine, an award-winning designer creates contemporary, one-of-a-kind jewellery using silver and gemstones.
Her designs are inspired by her travels into the remote wilderness of northern B.C. “For some artists, place does not matter”, says Margaret. “However, if you are inspired by rivers, stones, glaciers and pine trees, the location of your studio matters a lot.” This is why she relocated from Toronto to McBride, where she established the House of Jasper Silver Studio.
Her creative design process is based on unstructured experiences and is deeply personal. Creative freedom is very important to Margaret and she often rejects symmetry however, her designs retain balance and harmony.
The vibrant hues and elusive characteristics of each gemstone are as unique as Nature itself.
Her work has been exhibited at juried shows and galleries. Currently her work can be viewed at the Two Rivers Gallery, Prince George and the Whistle Stop Gallery in McBride.
Located in the Village of McBride, her studio is open to the public May till October,

In the eye of an artist, the palette of gemstones is a future jewellery paradise.

Margaret Graine has always possessed a sense of what she wanted to accomplish in her life. Or, perhaps it can be said that the sense possessed her…
Born in Poland, she dreamed of life in the most peaceful surroundings… a lovely little house, white picket fence, flower garden and a dog to keep her company. There was only one condition: this house must be located in Canada! It was impossible to have such a place in her homeland.
Early on, Margaret developed great appreciation for the intricate beauty of the natural world. She was drawn like a magnet to art and design, and a correlation formed in her mind between Nature and Art. She developed a fascination for jewellery, and began collecting the work of students at the Warsaw Art Academy. This is the foundation that would later influence Margaret’s unique artistry.
Always determined, Margaret was just 20 when she saved enough to buy a passage to her dream -- Canada. Once landed, everyday reality took over... job, family, continuous education. There was NO picket fence, yet she followed her intense artistic inspiration by visiting art galleries and museums. For many years she sketched jewellery designs in a special book, which grew quite thick. She always knew that one day the time and place would present itself-- when she would sit down and create!
Eventually, kids grew and left home, corporate job seemed like “just another day at the office”. The realization came: “perhaps finally, it is time… for the house, picket fence… oh, and perhaps her own studio!” In 1996, when traveling in Canada’s Rockies, she found the place for the dream. The mountains, lush forests and sparkling streams of the Robson Valley became her home. Here she draws inspiration for her nature-themed artworks in silver and beautiful stones.
Margaret is a self-taught, and self-defined artist. Relying on trial and error, committed to constant creative evolution, she has developed her skill in silver fabrication and gem setting. Her fascinating designs are exhibited both in Canada and on-line, and her work has recently been recognized for its originality by Art Jewellery Magazine.
She always knew that being surrounded by beauty gave her inner peace and happiness. Etsy provides a special venue to share that peace and happiness!
