Where Art, Music, and Fabric Come Together
I’ve been making art and showing at art and craft fairs for many years, and along the way I’ve built up a colorful collection of original artwork. What started as creating one-of-a-kind pieces soon grew into something more—I realized I could take my art and turn it into beautiful and useful things that people could enjoy every day.
The name of this shop, How Original!, comes from the art gallery I used to own in Laguna Beach, called "How Original! An Art Gallery in Laguna Beach." The gallery name was actually suggested by a friend. When I told him I was opening a gallery in Laguna Beach, he paused and said, “Hmmm, an art gallery in Laguna Beach. How original.” I liked it so much I kept a shortened version for my Etsy shop.
My love of fabric goes way back to when I was a kid, sewing little outfits for my stuffed animals on the toy Singer machine I got for Christmas. (If only I still had that machine!) That early fascination never left me, and today I use many of the fabrics I sell here in my own fiber artwork.
Most of what I create—and much of what I sell—is music-themed. I played the violin when I was younger. I wasn’t particularly good, but the love of music stuck with me. Now, that lifelong love shows up in my designs, from music-note fabrics to whimsical fiber art inspired by rhythm and melody.
From fabrics to fiber art, from sewing to planning, I love exploring how color, texture, and music can come together in surprising ways. Many of my artwork designs live on not just as originals, but as ornaments, notebooks, pillows, and tote bags—each one a small piece of creativity made to brighten your day.
So please browse, explore, and enjoy! You might just find the perfect music-themed fabric for your next project—or a piece of my art ready to bring a little harmony into your world.
