Our Story
INKON comenzó con una conversación sencilla.
Siempre había diseñado. Sobre todo para nuestras propias paredes. Creaba piezas de arte mural para la casa, las imprimía, las cambiaba y las retocaba. Mi tía Dawn incluso me pidió que diseñara algunas piezas por encargo para su nueva casa, lo que me hizo pensar que quizá esto era más que un simple pasatiempo.
Y luego está mi madre. Le encanta el eucalipto. Si paseas por su casa, encontrarás más eucaliptos artificiales de los que puedas imaginar. Así que, como era de esperar, terminé diseñando láminas de eucalipto para ella también.
Una noche, después de hablar de ello por centésima vez, Joanne dijo: ¿Por qué no abrimos una tienda Etsy?
Y así lo hicimos.
No había un gran plan. Solo estábamos los dos en la mesa de la cocina, decidiendo qué hacer. Me centré en crear láminas modernas y arte mural limpio y con un toque de diseño. Joanne lo mantuvo todo organizado, atendió a los clientes y se aseguró de que no pasara de una idea a otra sin terminar la última.
La mayor parte se ha construido en los huecos de la vida familiar. Madrugadas. Noches largas. Con nuestro bebé en mis rodillas mientras intento usar el ratón con una sola mano.
La primera vez que alguien pidió una de nuestras impresiones, no podíamos creerlo. La primera vez que enviamos una a Australia, fue surrealista.
Lo que empezó como un diseño para mi propia casa se ha convertido en INKON. Actualmente nos centramos en arte mural creativo e impresión de arte premium, pero el objetivo es diseñar más para el hogar, todo con el mismo estilo.
Todo comenzó con una conversación, un poco de fe y la decisión de intentarlo.

INKON started with a simple conversation.
I had always been designing. Mostly for our own walls. I would create pieces of wall art for the house, print them, swap them out and tweak them again. My Auntie Dawn even asked me to design a few commissioned pieces for her new house, which made me think maybe this was more than just a hobby.
And then there is my mum. She has a serious thing about eucalyptus. If you walk around her house you will find more fake eucalyptus plants than you can count. So naturally, I ended up designing eucalyptus prints for her too.
One night, after talking about it for the hundredth time, Joanne said, why don’t we just open an Etsy shop?
So we did.
There was no big plan. Just the two of us at the kitchen table figuring it out. I focused on creating modern prints and clean, intentional wall art. Joanne kept everything organised, handled customers and made sure I did not jump from one idea to the next before finishing the last one.
Most of it has been built in the gaps of family life. Early mornings. Late nights. Our baby on my knee while I try to use a mouse one handed.
The first time someone ordered one of our prints, we could not quite believe it. The first time we sent one to Australia, it felt surreal.
What started as me designing for our own home has grown into INKON. Right now we focus on creative wall art and premium art printing, but the goal is to design more for the home, all in the same considered style.
It began with a conversation, a bit of belief and a decision to try.
