About
Big swinging Ovaries, the story, the art and the jewellery
Welcome all to my Etsy shop.
We are here, because a few years back i had a solo textile art exhibition i named Big Swinging Ovaries. I wanted it to be feminist, but not obvious. Funny, but not ridiculous. Straight to the point, but only after you actually pay attention.
My art predominantly explores gender inequalities, feminism and recycling.
The larger portraits i create, i call retex sculpture ( recycled textile sculpture) and over the past year or so, i started including a lot more embroidered elements, which makes the pieces even more intricate and unique.
Over the course of the past two years since the exhibition, Big swinging Ovaries has become much more than just a name, it has become my brand.
I found it hard to identify with any particular feminist group out there, so in the end, i started creating my own ideology, and with that comes the ovary logo.
In this shop you can get your hands on the patches, of which i design a new one each and every year, the big swinging ovaries lapel pins, handmade silver bracelets and necklaces, the occasional hand-made hoop-embroidery, and generally anything related to what i feel has become my own niche of feminism.
For any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Be god to yourself,
