How Kaiyoclubhouse Started

The Kaiyoclubhouse started with a dream - as far back as I can remember I have wanted to be a full time artist. It always felt like an unattainable pipe dream until a met a few other people at a artist/LGBTQ+ summer camp who were doing what I had always dreamed of. I looked to them and though "wow, this is possible."

It started slow, agonizingly slow. I downloaded a painting app to my phone to learn the ropes of digital artwork - the early spring of 2017 was the first time I had tried my hand at something like this - using my finger as a stylus and the Infinite Painter app.

One by one I launched designs to my shop, using combination of self funding and campaign platforms to afford the costs of starting a small business. Eventually I upgraded to a tablet, then an iPad with procreate which is what I use now for all my designs - that slow and agonizing start really started to pay off.

Three years later in the summer of 2020 is when I quit my desk job to throw myself into my art and pursue a full time career as an artist and business owner.
