These chairs finished with natural Danish oil would look great next to a pool.

About

Welcome! Come on in! Have a seat!!

Thanks for visiting my shop - Kentucky Stick Chairs! My name is David, and, as the name suggests, my shop is a showroom for my handmade chairs.

These folding lawn chairs are made from yellow pine or red oak and are surprisingly comfortable, very sturdy, and also quite beautiful. They look amazing on a front porch or back deck, and fold so they can be taken to almost any outing. Plus, they're an excellent conversation piece and are sure to grab some attention!

The part I like most in making the chairs is watching the 8 ft planks of lumber turn into chair pieces, and then those pieces turning into chairs. Each piece of wood has a unique pattern in its grain; I really like opening up the finished chair to see how the patterns turned out.

My chairs had the distinction of being broadcast on national TV - NBC and NBCSN!!
Professional volleyball athletes were resting in them during the the broadcasts of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) tournaments! Since some of these athletes are going to the 2016 Olympics - I'm able to say that my chairs have had Olympian butts sitting in them - I don't think many woodworkers can make that claim to fame! These tournaments have taken my chairs all over the country; New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans, Huntington Beach and Manhattan Beach, CA. and then Chicago.

Also the Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall in Atlanta bought some for their new outdoor grove. The Ladybird is an upscale restaurant with a relaxed, campground-like feel. The Travel Channel recently filmed a pilot TV show there, so my chairs may be featured in that show, too!

In addition to the AVP and Ladybird restaurant, four of my chairs were purchased by Adobe Systems for their 2015 Adobe MAX conference. Those particular chairs are red and can be seen in my shop video.

I started out making items out of reclaimed wood as a hobby. One of my favorite pieces is a beautiful table that I made for my wife - the top of the table has over 200 intricate pieces and a glass-like epoxy protecting it.

I love making my chairs and being able to make something beautiful and useful for others to enjoy.

Frequently asked questions

Can shipping costs be reduced?

Absolutely!

I refund the difference between the actual cost of shipping and the amount charged on each listing. (The amount posted is for shipping to the farthest point on the continental U.S. - I used San Diego for this reference.)

OR you can contact me before placing the order and I will generate a coupon for you based on an estimate from FedEx.com.

Please note that $5.50 is added to the shipping cost of each chair to cover materials - boxes and tape.

Unfortunately, combining chairs into one container ends up doubling the cost of shipping them individually. FedEx classifies a package that big as freight.
