It started back in 2018, with our woodworking company. We had been using epoxy and resin for years, but were sick of making molds from Tuck Tape and fiberboard.

Because our woodworking business is sustainable (we plant trees with every wood product we sell), we were looking for a more eco friendly substance for our molds. We felt horrible every time we took a mold that had only lasted us a few pours to the landfill because they just wouldn't last. And none of the materials were recyclable.

After a bit of research, we happened upon a type of recyclable plastic that wouldn't bond; HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene). After a few tests, we realized this would be perfect for our needs and proceeded to make molds for ourselves that would suit our purposes! We had already been making tables, furniture and art for quite some time, so OF COURSE we went big right away!

Our first project was a disaster! We didn't seal it properly, it wasn't level, and we had epoxy EVERYWHERE! So we quickly refined it, to the point that it was easy to seal, easy to level, and easy to unmold. That SECOND mold, we were able to get over 350 uses!!!!

After a while, we started having other makers in the community asking us if we could make them a mold and it quickly ramped up from there: MAKERS REUSABLE MOLD was born!

Since then, we have made thousands of molds, more recently venturing into high quality silicones to compliment our HDPE lines. From round molds to rectangular and more designs on the way, we still "make" our own items every day but we absolutely LOVE the community we've met.

Makers Reusable Molds is now in more than 30 countries around the world. We've seen art and projects we never would have imagined and it makes us so unbelievable happy that we've been able to be a small part of it; all the while remaining a small business ourselves :)
