My items are made to withstand the test of time; however, normal wear can happen. Metals other than gold will tarnish, but there are definitely ways for you to keep your jewelry looking as beautiful as the day you got it! In every jewelry order, I include a polishing cloth. This is great for tarnished jewelry, and is reusable (and easy to use)!
Tarnish is absolutely normal, but there are some ways to slow it down. Wiping your jewelry with a soft cloth after use, storing in an airtight container or bag, storing in a cool, dry place, and not leaving your jewelry in humid areas (such as the bathroom) are some great tarnish preventing options.

What isn't normal wear and could seriously damage your jewelry though? I recommend you remove your jewelry before working with harsh chemicals (like cleaning agents) or swimming in a pool. I also recommend you put on jewelry as your last step when getting ready, using hairspray and makeup BEFORE putting on your jewelry. Hairspray and makeup will not ruin your jewelry immediately, but over time, the buildup could be quite unpleasant. If you do get makeup and/or hairspray on your jewelry, no worries! You can clean it with a soft toothbrush and a little dish soap.

Whether you request your jewelry to be gift wrapped or not, it will come ready to present as a gift. After all, you deserve something nice too! You will receive your jewelry in an appropriately sized jewelry box with my wax seal on it. Inside the box, you will find your jewelry nestled in pretty mint tissue paper. The box will be sealed with one of my favorite washi tapes. If you do not wish for the box to be closed by washi tape (i.e. If you wanted to slip something else in the box), please let me know. I can include the strip of tape on the side, or not at all if you desire.

Copper has been used for thousands of years to reduce joint pain and swelling. People assume that because copper can turn your skin green, it is bad to wear it. On the contrary, it is not the copper that turns your skin green, it is the body chemistry of the wearer in reaction to the copper, and it will wash off. When copper combines with sweat, it forms compounds called chelates, which are harmless. Green deposits occur when chelates are formed faster than they are absorbed. A lot of people look for the green on their skin to tell that the copper 'is working.' Whether you believe copper can help you with pain and swelling or not, it sure is beautiful to look at and is perfectly safe to wear.

Fine Silver (.999) - The purest form of silver, also known as pure silver. While particularly lustrous, Fine Silver is not usually used for jewelry that will receive a lot of wear, because it's not durable and bends easily.

Sterling Silver (.925) - 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% of another metal. The metal must possess at least 92.5% pure Silver to be Sterling. It is considered a standard among Silver grades and provides strength to ensure that pieces like silver bracelets, rings and necklaces can withstand regular use.

Argentium silver (.935) - A modern sterling silver alloy. Contains more pure silver than sterling and also has certain tarnish resistance properties. Slightly more strong and durable than sterling.

When you are buying plated jewelry, you are settling for lower quality. 'Plating' is a thin layer of either fine silver or gold placed over a base metal (such as copper, brass, or nickel). Plating is often considered the most cost effective alternative to the more expensive forms of solid silver or gold jewelry. That said, this form of silver or gold is very thin, wears off easily and degrades in appearance quickly. There is not a way to get the silver or gold coloring back once it has worn off. While it may seem like a good purchase at the time, when you buy plated jewelry, you are not buying something that will hold its quality and will always lose value.
