I purchased this Glass Sculpture in February 2018, saving it for today 17 June Fathers Day US. No, I didn’t even peek ! 😲 WoW, what an amazing piece of Art. I was as surprised and delighted as my Pops. Miss Mac, a true artiste indeed. The quality in both the execution and final work leaves me almost speechless. It is truly a heartfelt gift, reminding us of our beloved homeland. Thank you so very much, it was beyond expectations and well worth waiting for.

A very nice piece that completes my kitchen with a work of art that has a utilitarian purpose! Color is absolutely stunning and of course it becomes a but darker after the bottle is filled; something to keep in mind when selecting your color choice. Exactly as pictured. A but pricy given the high shipping costs but well worth it. Great workmanship. You won't be disappointed.

My kitties have a new design! These little beauties now have their tails wrapped around there body. Still full of character, this little lady is nice and sturdy. Ready to sit in your window and have a sun bath.

About

Deanna MacAulay, Calgary Glass Artist

I will never forget the first time I was introduce to hot glass. In 2004 I made the decision to go and peruse a fine arts degree and the Alberta College of Art and Design. I had big aspirations to be an artist and had tentatively settled that I would peruse the photographic arts.

Well, was I ever wrong. When picking my classes I saw "Hot Glass" listed and thought that sounded interesting . Little did I know that that decision was going to forever change my artistic direction.

The instructor welcomed us to the class and told us a little bit about what we were going to be doing. He then proceeded to walk over to the furnace, use a rod to gather a small bit of glass and walked back to us letting it "drool" from one side of the shop to the other. As we all watched in utter amazement as we saw before our eyes this liquid material becoming solid, I knew right then and there I was going to be hooked.

2014 marks the 10 year anniversary of my first gather of glass. I am still just as entranced by the material as I was the first time I every worked with it. Currently I work with it in multiple forms. I have been an industrial fabricator in a glass shop, I have taught community classes for fused glass, and have my own home studio complete with a glass kiln. As of April 2013 I had the wonderful pleasure of coming together with three fellow Artist to form the Fireweed Glass Studio in Canmore Alberta.

I am so incredibly fortunate to have found my passion and to have the opportunity to work with a medium I truly enjoy.

I fell in love with glass while studying at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta. I am always learning new ways of working with this unique material and look forward to many more years of art making.
