About Mixed Bead Bags

Mixed Bead Bags has been in business since 2009, but owner Esma Erdic's start in the bead industry began in 1998 when she became an assembler for haute couture jewellery designers Erickson Beamon. Working for the high-end jewellery company was a highly influential and educational experience for her, and she took what she learned and started designing her own jewellery.

In 2000, Esma Erdic's jewellery company, "Beadiful" was formed, and she sold her pieces for several years via Toronto's St. Lawrence Market and by hosting jewellery parties.

In 2009, Esma started experimenting with selling on line, and she soon realized that her passion for beads was heading in the direction of supplier instead of designer. She started as a bead seller on Ebay, and Etsy followed soon after. In 2012, she discovered that her customers really loved the bags of beautiful bead mixes she started assembling, and hence, Mixed Bead Bags was officially born.

It was around this time that Esma also discovered the niche sea glass market. A lover of beaches and all things natural, this was a perfect fit for her growing inventory of beady and crafty items. She researched extensively on the subject of sea glass and beach pottery, and has been successfully supplying thalassophiles around the world with her beautiful and often unique beach-found objects.

In more recent times, Mixed Bead Bags inventory started to include upcycled items and mosaic pieces. Mixed Bead Bags' objective is to provide people with the supplies in which to create beautiful things. The majority of the shop's items are one-of-a-kind, adding a uniqueness and special quality to their customer's creations.

Frequently asked questions
How big are the holes in your beads?

The bead holes range in size, with the average being about 2mm. Beads can have holes as small as 1mm, while some have holes as large as 5mm, or even 7mm. Please check the item descriptions to see bead hole sizes.

Will I get a tracking number?

Orders shipped in Canada as Oversized Mail are not tracked, and US/International orders shipped as Small Packet are also not tracked. A traceable tracking number is available only with parcels, expedited and tracked packets.

Do you combine shipping costs?

We try to give you the lowest shipping cost, so yes, we do offer combined rates, and we always refund any shipping overpayment so you pay exactly what the post office charges. It is best to contact us if you have any questions about shipping rates.

How much time do I have to pay?

Our payment terms state that you must pay for your purchase within 3 days. However, if you need more time, just let us know and we will gladly wait until you are ready to pay. We recommend contacting us if you are experiencing problems paying within our terms.

Where do you get your beads?

We have a variety of suppliers all around the world. We research many sources to find beautiful, unique and high-quality beads and findings at low prices.

What are "Mosaic Mixes"?

Our Mosaic Mixes are fun, eclectic assortments of broken/whole/new/used beads, pendants and findings, broken jewelry, ceramic tile (new and surf-tumbled), rocks, beach glass, beach pottery, embellishments, cabochons, and anything else we can fit in a baggie!
They are useful for arts & crafts projects, jewelry making, mosiacs, home & garden, etc.

What is sea glass?

Sea (or beach) glass are the pebble or stone-like bits of frosty glass you find on beaches. The frosty look comes from the constant surf and sand weathering the glass and softening the edges. The end result is a highly-valued and popular natural "jewel" that is used in jewelry making, mosaics, arts & crafts projects, and in the home and garden.

Do you sell genuine or machine-tumbled sea glass?

All of our sea glass and beach pottery is 100% surf-tumbled.

Where do you get your sea glass?

We have several areas along Lake Ontario where we pick our sea glass. Occasionally, we will have sea glass from other parts of the world.
