5 out of 5 starsBeautiful pattern. Glove gussets are incredibly fiddly. But really lovely layout and beautifully made.

4 out of 5 starsEasy pattern although did need to do lots of altering as power mesh fabric probably wasn’t the best choice to make with! Nevertheless great instructions.

About PalmPatterns
A line of sewing patterns focused on versatile, functional and expressive costumes and special occasion-wear, that work out of the spotlight, too.
As an independent performer in burlesque, dance, and circus, I find I’m constantly having to re-invent the wheel when embarking on a new costume project... and I bet I’m not the only one! My goal is to create a go-to collection of shapes, styles, and techniques that DIY-inclined enertainers can rely on. But! They’re also extremely adaptable to other contexts - beachwear, loungewear, party dresses, even office attire - depending on fabric choices and finishing techniques. So even if your wardrobe is a strictly rhinestone-free zone, these styles are still full of potential.
Many a dancer has confided in me that they would love to make some of their own costumes from scratch but don’t feel confident at the sewing machine. I want each set of pattern instructions (and supplementary blog posts and videos) to double as almost a mini e-course, thoroughly describing all the construction steps and including tips for working with specialty fabrics and alternative design options to achieve different effects, so that developing sewists feel supported rather than intimidated.

Sizing details
You can find each pattern's specific sizing information in the listing details. In addition to the standard sizes, each pattern comes with thorough instructions for customizing your fit!
How do I print and assemble my pattern?
All Palm Patterns are designed to print correctly on either standard Letter (8.5"x11") and A4 (210mm × 297mm) size paper; for accurate sizing, it's important to select "Actual Size" or "100% scale" from your printer settings. For best results, I recommend printing your files from Adobe Reader or Mac Preview. After printing, measure the test square to confirm the scale is correct, and then trim the margins and tape pages together as described in the pattern's instructions.
Most pattern pieces will not fit on a single page, so several pages must be joined to form a grid. Each page is assigned a letter (representing the row) and number (for the column) to help you assemble the grid. Find video instructions here: https://youtu.be/olM9thHqhsI
What sewing level are your patterns designed for?
Palm Patterns range from simple to advanced, depending on the style. Each pattern includes a breakdown of required skill in its listing description, and is assigned an estimated level from "Sweet" to "Tart" to "Salty". The actual difficulty of the project will also depend on your choice of fabric, as some materials are more challenging to work with.
"Sweet" projects are great for newer sewists who are familiar with the basics of operating a sewing machine and ready to try something more fun.
"Tart" styles are ideal for intermediate sewists who are comfortable sewing more complex seams and tackling fitting challenges.
"Salty" patterns are for experienced sewists who laugh in the face of danger and eat tiny seam allowances for brunch.
