My Love Affair with Pilea Peperomioides

I came across my first baby pilea about 2-3 years ago, when there were not much information about this plant on line. The round leaves reminds me of the water lily which I would love to have. I started documenting it on Instagram after growing the plant for about 2 years and found a lot of growers from all over the world sharing their beautiful photos of this plant.

It is now one of the most popular plants on social media. You can see them all over Instagram, Pinterest, and Houzz. More and more pilea lovers are sharing their growing experience and caring information on line. And of course more and more plant enthusiasts are asking to purchase one of this. I've only sold my plants locally so far. But since more an more plant lovers have asked me from other parts of Canada, I decided to open this shop for out of town customers. If you are from Vancouver or coming to Vancouver, please inquire about pick up.

All the Pilea Peperomioides I'm selling are homegrown and all the photos are taken in my small loft apartment in Richmond BC. It is the cutest plant ever and very easy to care. You probably already knew how to take care of this plant when you read this. But for those who don't, just no direct sunlight, water it thoroughly when the soil is dry, feed a tiny bit of plant food once every now and then when it grows to an adult size, that's it!

I like to mix brewed coffee beans in my soil or dilute the plant food in water and use them randomly through out it's growing season (Spring/Summer). It can be propagate easily from it's root cuttings, so within a year you will have your own pilea family if you start from a small plant now.

Anywhere with lush green can be my sacred space. Probably because it reminds me of growing up with my grandparents. Their garden was my playground. Watching my plants grow day by day is my entertainment. That's why I enjoy propagating so much!
