Announcement    You want to know what is material we use to produce our furnitures? Read this and find out, why plywood is something much more than you think it is!

Is buying plywood furniture worth it?

Plywood… Something so be proud of? In Poland, this material has had a bad reputation but fortunately our attitude is slowly changing. Many people still consider it unfashionable, passé, and even garbage or waste material. Perhaps it is because in Poland during communism the plywood furniture was either not very charming (not to mention of dubious quality) or simply not available at all. However, those times are long gone and today plywood gets a second chance. All thanks to great plywood furniture manufacturers who use the highest quality material. As it turns out - plywood is not only visually attractive but also ensures the highest durability.

What is plywood?

First let’s find out what is plywood. It is a composite material of heterogeneous structure, consisting of several components. Plywood for furniture construction consists of thin layers of wood arranged alternately. And this alternating system gives the plywood high strength. The process of making plywood is quite time consuming and complex. The hydrothermal processing of wood alone takes several dozen hours, and this is only the initial stage of the production of this material. Debarking, cutting logs, peeling the logs into veneers, drying, correction of defects, gluing the veneers together, pressing the veneers in a cold and then hot press, trimming and sanding - each stage of plywood formation takes time.

Birch, alder, pine and poplar plywood are most often used for furniture production, slightly less often beech or plywood from exotic trees. The veneers are joined together with glue. On the market there are waterproof and dry-resistant plywood. In the first case the plywood has waterproof glue, not to be confused with water resistance of wood, because no wood is waterproof). Only the finish / protection of wood with varnish or oil gives it hydrophobic properties.

Environment lovers will be pleased by the fact that this material is nature-friendly and fully renewable. In addition, due to its properties plywood is highly flexible and bendable to desired shapes. Thanks to this, plywood furniture, unlike wooden, is more often characterized by an original, diverse design. An interesting fact is that plywood was once widely used to build ... planes. During World War II, the famous British multi-role aircraft De Havilland Mosquito was built from this material proving its high strength. Today, aviation plywood (characterized by even greater strength) is also used but to a limited extent and only in the construction of secondary elements.

Plywood furniture manufacturer - Plywood Project

No wonder that plywood shines in the furniture industry. Plywood Project - plywood furniture manufacturers - chose this material for several reasons. It is an excellent material for them because of its strength. They also appreciate its aesthetic values that you will not find in other materials. What's more - they value it because of its ecological aspects. For their supplier they chose one of the best plywood manufacturers, Finnish company Koskisen, whose birch plywood guarantees the quality of the manufactured furniture.

Visually, plywood has a characteristic and eye-catching birch wood pattern that, with a little imagination and the right color, gives great results. The technical parameters of plywood are high moisture resistance and strength. In Frisk furniture this translates into the fact that the openwork side legs are made of one piece of plywood and have considerable load resistance. The final products are finished with Osmo's high-class oils, which are based on natural ingredients.

Plywood furniture - what to choose?

Is plywood furniture a good solution? The features we mentioned in the previous paragraphs can be summarized in a few points. First, plywood is an extremely strong material and resistant to various technical treatments during manufacturing process. Secondly, it is a durable material. Furniture made of plywood will definitely serve you for many years. Thirdly, quality plywood is a beautiful material. Visible layers of the composite catch the eye and enhance the furniture adding depth to it. This material will work as the basis for many types of furniture, both home and office, bookcases in particular. Plywood makes them one hundred percent functional (they are simply solid and strong) and esthetically pleasing. Plywood tables or plywood sideboards, especially vintage ones, will be a great addition to any room. The characteristic wood pattern, visible layers of veneers beautifully correspond to the Scandinavian style in the modern version, but also in the mid-century. Scandinavian style furniture made of plywood is a real hit conquering not only European hearts, but also American. Of course, when looking for plywood furniture, we will find various types and models of bookcases, tables, as well as sideboards, desks, stools, armchairs and many, many others.

Returning to the opening question - plywood furniture is a very good solution. Just remember to always focus on the high quality and choose furniture from good manufacturers; furniture in which multi-layer plywood reveals its best face. The right plywood guarantees many years of quality and beauty.
