About

Prairie Métis Works is a Métis and French-Canadian maman who makes moccasins, trades blankets, and gathers plants in old ways, with modern style.

I am a proud citizen of the Manitoba Métis Federation, and a proud French-Canadian. I love to celebrate my heritage by making traditional clothing and collecting things. My collection of moccasins, mitts and hats that I've made, and trade blankets, foraged teas and quills I collected got so big that it took over my home office. My family jokingly started to call it the Trading Post.

Friends and family encouraged me to share my creations with the world. Or as my husband put it- "no more blankets until you make some room!" So, Prairie Métis Works was born.

What you see in my store is whatever I have in my trading post at the moment. Blankets, mitts, moccasins and more!

Thank you, Merci, Marsii,

Frequently asked questions
Are you Native American?/ What is "Métis"?

I am Red River Michif (Métis), which is an Indigenous cultural group in Canada. I am a card-holding citizen of my Métis Nation.

Customers Seeking Particular Point Blankets

Point blankets come to me through my community, so I don't have much control over my selection. However if you are seeking a particular colour or year, let me know and I can keep my eyes open and contact you if one comes my way.

Custom and personalized orders

At the moment, I am no longer taking new custom order clients. If you are in need of custom work, I have some very good Indigenous Artisans I would be happy to refer you to!
