4 Tzotzil cousins & their children

I meet a group of 6 cousins who had left their homes and husbands in the Tzotzil lands of Chiapas, Mexico. They would set out their rebosos with little fabric animals made from hand spun sheep wool then woven on a backstrap loom and stuffed with scraps to produce their little animals, in 2016

these young girls have a beautiful skill with the beads and an eye from color and variation. We try to procure these pieces from sellers on the streets so we can leave them with bead supplies. Supporting the larger stores is important too so they continue to buy from the young indigenous girls

This is a Zapotec family from Oaxaca who opened a story in Sayulita, Nayarit. The bring their naturally dyed rugs, hand woven traditional pre-Hispanic pattern textiles and alebrije from their community to sell in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.
