Hello! My name is Sophie and I am the designer and creator of all the lovely peg doll characters here at Rainbow Peg Dolls. The wooden dolls make wonderfully durable toys for young children, but they can also be used as cake toppers, fridge magnets, jewelry, ornaments or just for a fun piece of decor.

Peg dolls are a traditional toy dating back to the Victorian era that can still be enjoyed by today's children as an alternative to modern plastic toys. The dolls were usually made from clothes pegs/pins as that was something that many people had in their homes and toys were an expensive luxury that many people could not afford at that time.

I have always crafted and my mum's house is full of things I made for her as a kid. After I had my own children, I started making things for them too. I love detailed painting and the peg dolls seemed like a natural fit for me because I enjoy painting the fine details into the characters and at the same time making something that will be loved and played with for years!

I am originally from the UK, but I moved to the USA in 2013 with my husband and our twin babies. Those babies are now nearly four and I love the imaginary worlds that they create with the peg dolls I made for them, it keeps them busy for hours!

I opened my store on Etsy in 2016 to offer my painted peg dolls to the world and be able to stay at home with my kids. I love being able to work on custom and character dolls and I want my products to be affordable for everyone.

Wooden dolls are a great alternative to plastic if you are looking for a more environmentally friendly choice in toys! All of my peg dolls are made from wooden blanks which I hand paint with acrylic paint. They are safe and non-toxic although babies and very young children should be supervised while playing with the dolls as with all toys*. I offer a wide variety of characters in my shop, but I also can make custom dolls on request, just send me a convo to get started on a custom order!
