Durable, beautiful, hand forged items made by blacksmith team Lorinda and Tim

Tim and Lorinda Peel-Wickstrom are the team behind Reforged Ironworks. Tim's passion for blacksmithing, gardening, and sustainability is the wellspring from which Reforged Ironworks was born. Established in 2014, our focus is to create hard working and durable gardening and bushcraft hand tools from scrap steel, as well as ornamental ironwork inspired by the homesteading era. We use as much reclaimed material as possible in our products to reduce our environmental footprint.

As a professional, Tim pushes himself in the shop to reach higher and better standards of craftsmanship every day. Learning from other talented smiths and demonstrating at public events are some of the ways he continues to develop his skills and share the craft with others.

Tim and Lorinda work out of a cozy shop located at home with the essential tools of the blacksmith: forge, anvil and hammer. Lorinda assists in the shop primarily as striker: that's the person who swings a sledgehammer to make forging more efficient. We use several power tools to increase efficiency but our favourite tools are the old fashioned ones powered by muscle.

Every piece we make is unique due to the nature of forging them by hand. While we use traditional patterns to guide our work, each item incorporates often incorporates new and contemporary ideas. It makes for a very creative process.

Reforged Ironworks is happy to work with customers to bring their unique ideas to life.

Care instructions

All of our items are forged from carbon steel, which is susceptible to rust. The best way to prevent rust forming on steel is to keep it clean and dry. Applying a light coating of oil such as vegetable or linseed also works well, especially for long term storage. Be sure to use a food safe oil on items that will be used for eating!

If rust happens to form on steel, it's not the end of the world. Take a brillo pad or other coarse scrubber and scrub the rust off with a little water. Once the rust is removed, thoroughly dry and oil the item well to prevent further rust from forming.

Blades such as garden tools and knives will benefit from regular honing, and occasional sharpening. Using a whetstone is the best method for both.
