SEUE WAS BORN OUT OF A DESIRE AND A NECESSITY
L'arte e la creatività sono presenti nella mia vita fin dalla mia infanzia. Mia madre è molto abile con le sue mani quando si tratta di artigianato e cucina. Con lei ho avuto l'opportunità di esplorare varie tecniche e materiali artigianali; L'artigianato faceva parte della mia vita quotidiana.
Ho frequentato l'università a Medellín, in Colombia, dove mi sono laureata con un Master in Arti Visive e Belle, specializzandomi in fotografia.
All'età di 25 anni sono venuto a vivere a Barcellona - un luogo che da allora è diventato la mia seconda casa - dove ho studiato un Master in Studi Avanzati in Storia dell'Arte.
Essendo un immigrato, ed essendo arrivato in Spagna nel bel mezzo della crisi economica, significava che le opportunità di lavoro non erano le migliori per me, nonostante avessi un alto livello di istruzione.
Così, alla ricerca di un lavoro che non fosse legato al turismo o all'industria alberghiera, sono arrivata alla bottega di Olivia Cavallet, una maestra artigiana che aveva dedicato la sua vita all'uncinetto e che era ampiamente riconosciuta per aver dato una svolta alla tecnica tradizionale introducendo un nuovo materiale: il filo metallico d'argento e rame.
Con Olivia ho imparato la tecnica per un periodo di 6 anni, che in seguito mi ha portato a ereditare il mestiere dalle sue mani. Le sarò sempre profondamente grato.

Il desiderio di mettere in pratica tutte le conoscenze acquisite nel corso della mia vita. Per metterlo in una gamma di gioielli che, anche se non sono l'unica persona che lavora questa tecnica, sono in grado di mettere il mio tocco personale.
Il bisogno di esprimere tutta la mia creatività, di guadagnarmi da vivere facendo ciò che amo veramente: lavorare con le mie mani.
Per questo motivo ogni gioiello SEUE è più di un semplice ornamento, contengono anni di apprendimento, il mio amore per l'arte e la sua storia, il mio desiderio di avere una piccola impresa che mi permetta di essere totalmente indipendente economicamente e, si spera, in futuro dia l'opportunità ad altre donne di essere indipendente.
Art and creativity have been present in my life since my childhood. My mother is very skilled with her hands when it comes to crafts and cookery. With her I had the opportunity to explore various craft techniques and materials; crafts were part of my daily life.
I went to university in Medellín, Colombia, where I graduated with a Master's degree in Visual and Fine Arts, specialising in photography.
At the age of 25 I came to live in Barcelona - a place that has since become my second home - where I studied a Master's in Advanced Studies in Art History.
Being an immigrant, and having arrived in Spain in the middle of the economic crisis, meant that the job opportunities were not the best for me despite having a high level of education.
So, looking for a job that was not related to tourism or the hotel industry, I arrived at Olivia Cavallet's workshop, a master craftswoman who had dedicated her life to crochet and who was widely recognised for having put a twist on the traditional technique by introducing a new material: silver and copper metal thread.
With Olivia I learnt the technique over a 6 year period, which later led me to inherit the craft from her hands. I will always be deeply grateful to her.
SEUE WAS BORN OUT OF A DESIRE AND A NECESSITY
The desire to put into practice all the knowledge acquired throughout my life. To put it into a range of jewellery that, although I am not the only person who works this technique, I am able to put my own personal spin on.
The need to express all my creativity, to make a living doing what I really love: working with my hands.
For this reason each piece of SEUE jewellery is more than just an ornament, they contain years of learning, my love for art and its history, my desire to have a small business that allows me to be totally independent economically and, hopefully, in the future give the opportunity to other women to be independent, too.
