It all began at Goodwill.
Sometime in the summer of 1997 I was at Goodwill just browsing. You know, just looking to see if they had anything I couldn't live without. In the locked up case I noticed some video games. They caught my interest because I had never seen them before. I asked to look at them and all three were complete and in near mint condition. I had never heard of Sega Master System before but at 2 bucks each in that condition I couldn't live without them. So it began...
Once I got the games home I started doing the research and it turned out they were not only in great condition but they were desirable games as well. I put them up on eBay which I had just start using to buy and sell Pokemon Cards. To my surprise I turned my 6 dollar investment into 65 dollars. I was hooked.
I continued searching thrift stores and garage sales and buying and selling games on eBay. By 2002 the seller fees on eBay were eating too much of the profits so bluerosevideogames.com was born. Everything was going great for this part time business until the recession hit in 2008. Sales dropped dramatically. In 2012, in an effort to get things going again I re branded the shop savepointgames.com. Unfortunately, life events and available time made it impossible to fully implement the change. When my annual hosting fees came due for 2019 I made the decision to shut down the website and give Etsy a try. Time will tell if this will work out.
That 65 dollars has been turned into 1000's of items for over a dozen game systems. I will never get everything listed on Etsy but as long as sales support the selling costs I will keep it going by adding listings as much as possible.
