Years of making
Puedo recordar a mi papá guiando mis manos delicadamente alrededor de una hoja de sierra de pergamino mientras hacíamos varias figuritas hasta que me compró mi primera caja de herramientas para mi séptimo cumpleaños. Ciertamente he hecho más que figuritas en los más de 20 años desde entonces, pero a veces todavía siento sus manos guiándome mientras trabajo una pieza para convertirse en algo hermoso.
Aprendí arte de un hermano mayor, y aprendí a diseñar y cosas en términos de relaciones, medidas y forma en la escuela secundaria.
Hice joyas en la universidad para obtener dinero extra para gastos, y comencé a herrería en una feria histórica para impresionar a una chica. Aprendí electrónica básica para aprender a reparar reproductores MP3 en la escuela secundaria. Mi madre me enseñó a hacer ganchillo y coser con una máquina, después de que los Boy Scouts me enseñaron a coser a mano. No puedo pensar en ninguna fase de mi vida en la que no haya estado haciendo algo.
Ahora es el momento de tomar todas estas pequeñas cosas que he hecho, mostrarlas al mundo y ver quién está interesado.
I can remember my Papa guiding my hands delicately around a scroll saw blade as we made various little figurines until he bought me my first tool box for my seventh birthday. I’ve certainly made more than figurines in the 20+ years since then, but I sometimes still feel his hands guiding me as I work a piece to become something beautiful.
I learned art from an older brother, and i learned to design and thing in terms of relationships, measurements, and form in high school.
I made jewelry in college to get extra spending money, and started blacksmithing at a historical faire to impress a girl. I Learned basic electronics to learn how to repair MP3 players in middle school. My mother taught me to crochet and sew with a machine, after the Boy Scouts taught me how to sew by hand. I can't think of any phase of my life where i haven't been making something.
Now it's time to take all these little things i've made, show them to the world, and see who's interested.
