Well, my grand departure from Etsy didn't exactly go as planned, hahaha!

Covid happened; I really picked the wrong year to depart from any handmade sales channels! Oh well, I think many of us are learning to step into our vulnerability and admit it when we make choices that don't end up serving us.

Some folks just prefer the structure of Etsy to individual maker websites, and that's cool. I can manage a presence on both (for things other than rhinestones oh my gosh it's hard enough for me to manage inventory on so many tiny items now!).

I'd love to scale my business to provide faster/better service and lower prices for y'all, but for now I am a one babe show, designing, making and selling her wares as her full-time gig.

I've now added design-conscious, high-quality cotton masks to the sparkly fun stuff. I've been refining and improving design, fit, and quality since April and now have a product I'm really happy with!

Enjoy the collection! Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions!

I'm letting all my customers know that due to the recent changes to Etsy policies that would result in increased pricing, I have made the difficult decision to close my Etsy shop and sell exclusively through my own website.

I hope you will continue to support my lil sparkle-biz by visiting www.showgirlsparkle.com for your sparkle needs.

Thank you for your past support!

Yikes! Y'all are keeping me busy! (I love it, not complaining!) Please be patient with me as I scale up my business to meet the increased demands. Some end-of-year transitions are in the works to streamline ordering and save time; very exciting!

Hi beauties! I am in the midst of changing my rhinestone listings so that they are sorted by colour instead of by size, so please be patient with me for the next few days as I shift the listings. I hope this will make it easier for you to find what you need!

I hope you are all enjoying the summer weather! Back in the studio, catching up on orders, making some cool stuff that will be rolling out soon!

💎March 30/2019💎
The shop is delightfully swamped with orders, then off to the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival, then back home to catch up on early April orders!

Feel free to place an order, but creation times for pasties will be paused until mid-April and stock levels of rhinestones will be a bit low until I get my next order in!

💎February 2019💎
- I have fresh new Etsy website! How fun! Check it out and subscribe to my sparkle newsletter of tips and tricks; the best way to stay on top of new designs and special offers! (I promise not to be weird about it, only good things!)

It's time to leave Etsy

It's now time for me to leave Etsy. They recently changed their policies, requiring me to advertise based on their own algorithms, whether I want to or not, and to increase their fees once again. It is no longer cost-effective for me to participate in Etsy selling, so rather than increasing prices, I am regretfully leaving the platform.

I have developed my own site, where I would be happy to assist you with your sparkle needs. Please visit www.showgirlsparkle.com
_______
I started doing burlesque in 2016, and I fell in love with it! So much sparkle, so much glamour! I soon fell down the rabbit-hole of costume embellishing, and I haven't looked back. I love using my art and design background to enhance costumes to the next level!

I love helping people achieve the costumes of their dreams; let me know what your vision is and we can create something wonderful together! You can hire me to do the embellishing for you, or you can just buy the rhinestones and experience the zen of rhinestoning for yourself!

I carry high-quality rhinestones at a fair price. I typically stock SS10 and SS16 in all colours, with some of the more popular colours also available in SS20 and SS30. You can pre-order on my website, and I'll ship them out to you, or you can pick them up by using promo code LOCALPICKUP.

Pasties can be made in any size, shape, with or without tassels, and in any colour scheme. Some performers prefer a flatter, less conical pastie; as a personal preference, for assels.

If you see something you like but want to customize options, shoot me a message, I am always excited to work on special orders!

Pricing varies based on pastie size and complexity.

Included with your pastie order is a small quantity of "just in case" rhinestones, for those rhinestone emergencies, and a sample of Shape Tape!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

Any item I make can be completely personalized; size, shape, colour, quality of rhinestones, design, tassels... The options are endless.

If you have a performance deadline, or need an item for a specific date, please advise, and I will be happy to discuss timelines.

What size should I choose? (Part 1)

Not sure what your pastie size is? Start here!

Most pastie-enthusiasts like their pasties to *just* cover their areolas and nipples, but you can wear a larger size for more coverage if you like, or wear smaller pasties that cover just the nipples and apply body makeup to the areolas afterwards (applying makeup before sticking your pasties on may affect the adhesion of the pastie to the skin).

What size should I choose? (Part 2)

If you already have a pair of pasties that are a size you love, measure the diameter across the back (straight line from the widest point on one side to the widest point on the other side).

If you don’t have a pair that’s quite right, it’s time to experiment a little! Grab a few household items and take thy gorgeous self to a mirror. You can try large coins, lids to beauty products, candles, circular pieces of jewellery, anything that looks like it might cover the area you want to cover. Just hold the items up over your nipples and see which item covers the area the way you like. Then just measure the diameter of that item and voila! That’s your pastie size!

Pasties - Care and Feeding

My pasties are all made from a double-layer of medium-weight buckram, and will last for years of use with a bit of care.

Moisture is a pastie’s arch-enemy, so try to keep them dry. They can withstand a performance sweat, but not a pool party. If you have a water-act or need them for a pool party, let me know in advance and I can make them on a 3D printed polymer base.

However you choose to adhere your pasties, make sure you prep the surface of your skin first. Don’t use any creams or moisturizers on the nipple or areoles beforehand. Give the area a wipe with rubbing alcohol if available, or diluted vodka in a pinch.

Pasties - Sticking them on! Part 1 (for fun and games)

If you’re wearing the pasties for sexy fun times, double-sided lingerie tape or garment tape, available at most drug stores, should work just fine. You don’t want them *too* stuck on because you may want to remove them quickly

Pasties - Sticking them on! Part 2 (for stage and performance, for Dry or Normal Skin)

If you are wearing them for performing, those babies need to stay on!

If your skin is dry or normal, it’s possible that a simple line of eyelash glue or spirit gum around the outside edge of the pastie will work. Apply it to the pastie, avoiding the actual nipple area, let it dry for a couple of minutes and then apply them. Hold them on for 30 seconds or so, and you should be good to go! After you remove them, wipe the area with coconut oil or makeup remover to get rid of the sticky residue or your boobs will pick up lint, which is not very glam. (If you have a latex allergy, make sure to find the non-latex glue!)

Pasties - Sticking them on! Part 3 (for stage and performance, for Oily or Glowing Skin)

If your skin is oily or if you are working up a healthy glow onstage, eyelash glue or garment tape may not be enough. You might need double-sided carpet tape from the hardware store. It is fiddly/annoying to work with, especially if you have nails, but it is effective. There are different brands and stickinesses available, start with the lightest and work your way up to heavy-duty if you need more stick; be as gentle on your skin as you can.

Find a pair of scissors that you don’t mind gunking up and tuck them into your burly-bag with the tape. Backstage you can cut small pieces of the tape and stick it to the back of the outside edge of the pastie, and then to your skin. Dot get the tape onto your nipple; it hurts coming off!

Wholesale availability

If you need matching sets of pasties for your performance troupe, I can offer a discount on multiple pairs of pasties ordered at the same time. Message me for details!

Shipping - no one likes it!

Shipping is the worst. I love shopping online but I haaaaaate paying shipping. It's no fun at all.

I'm never about hiding my profits in high shipping costs. My shipping estimates are as accurate as I can make them given the Canada Post shipping "tools" and I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple orders. Just shoot me a quick email before you check out and I will blend the shipping whenever I possibly can.
