Por qué creo
Why I create
Uno de mis primeros recuerdos incluye a mi padre, que era un artista brillante, acostado en el suelo para colorear conmigo. Tenía una manera de hacer que las imágenes realmente cobraran vida agregando capas de colores para crear textura y profundidad. Mi madre siempre se aseguró de que tuviera suministros para crear como mejor me pareciera, lo que permitió que mi creatividad se expandiera.
A lo largo de los años, aproveché cada oportunidad para aprender de cualquier persona que me enseñara nuevas habilidades o me mostrara cómo ser mejor con las habilidades que tengo. Completé todas las clases de arte y cursos de arte de especialidad en la escuela secundaria. Luego fui a la universidad para estudiar diseño gráfico y de interiores. He viajado por todo el país visitando tantos museos, obras de teatro, conciertos, exposiciones de artesanía y exposiciones de arte como sea posible. Me encanta ver lo que otros crean y muchas de esas cosas han ayudado a dar forma a mis propias creaciones.
Siempre he compartido mi arte enseñando, creando o inspirando a otros. En el verano de 2021, elegí comenzar a poner mi trabajo a disposición de cualquier persona inscribiéndome en un mercado de artesanías del vecindario. Me di cuenta de que quería compartir cómo veo el mundo con los demás.
He aprendido mucho desde ese primer mercado, de otros proveedores, mis clientes y, lo más importante, de mi hija. Ella viaja a todos los mercados conmigo, me ayuda a instalarme, se asegura de que nos mantengamos alimentados durante el día, aprende todos los puestos realmente geniales que necesitamos visitar, crea nuevos conceptos o estrategias y me mantiene sonriendo todo el tiempo. Ella me inspira todos los días a ser mejor de lo que era el día anterior.
Espero seguir compartiendo mi arte y la alegría que me trae durante mucho tiempo.
One of my earliest memories includes my father, who was a brilliant artist, laying on the floor to color with me. He had a way of making the pictures truly come alive by adding layers of colors to create texture and depth. My mom always made sure I had supplies to create as I saw fit, which allowed my creativity to expand.
Over the years, I took every opportunity to learn from anyone that would teach me new skills or show me how to be better with the skills I have. I completed every art class and specialty art course in high school. I then went onto college to study graphic and interior design. I have traveled all over the country taking in as many museums, plays, concerts, craft shows, and art exhibits as possible. I love seeing what others create and many of those things have helped to shape my own creations.
I have always shared my art through teaching, creating, or inspiring others. In the summer of 2021, I chose to start making my work available to anyone by signing up for a neighborhood craft market. I realized I wanted to share how I see the world with others.
I have learned so much since that first market , from other vendors, my customers, and most importantly my daughter. She travels to every market with me, helps me set up, makes sure we stay fed during the day, learns all the really cool booths we need to visit, comes up with new concepts or strategies, and keeps me smiling the whole time. She inspires me every day to be better than I was the day before.
I hope to continue sharing my art and the joy it brings me for a long time to come.
