From Homemaker to Global Entrepreneur
My dream of starting an e-commerce business stayed alive through every stage of life. As a homemaker, I faced many challenges — raising children, supporting their education, taking care of my family, and managing the home, especially during difficult times when my children were unwell. Even with all these responsibilities, I never let go of my dream.
The first step toward building my business was applying for GST registration in India. It was not an easy journey. I faced several rounds of verification and approvals, and there were moments when the process felt overwhelming. But after a lot of effort and patience, I finally received my GST registration — a milestone that made my dream feel real.
We then explored opportunities to sell our designs online in India. Through a friend from the US, we came to know about Etsy. Since we come from a design background, we felt it would be the perfect platform to showcase our creativity to a global audience.
The onboarding process with Etsy was smooth and encouraging. To our surprise and happiness, we received our very first sale within just one week of opening our shop. That moment gave us immense confidence and motivation to continue.
Today, through our store, SindhuDesignHub, we have successfully delivered our design work to customers in the USA and the UK, and we are grateful to have received 5-star ratings on all our orders. Every positive review reminds us that our hard work and passion are being recognized.
I am proud to be balancing both my family responsibilities and my growing business journey. Etsy has given me the opportunity to turn my dream into reality and connect my creativity with customers around the world.
Thank you once again, Etsy, for supporting small creators and recognizing our efforts.
Regards,
Selvamathi
