Sprouts Press is a hand bindery, printmaking and paper arts studio that provides beautiful, functional hand bound journals and book themed products made from the heart.
At Sprouts Press each book is crafted by hand; page paper is cut, boards are wrapped and pasted and the pages are sewn with a needle and thread, the old fashioned way. It is the continuing of an important tradition, the merging of beauty and function, and a rebirth of materials reclaimed into a new object designed for discovery and inspiration.
Much is considered when designing a good journal; size, colour and function. But mostly people should be able to express their hearts out in these books. They are designed to be used, well worn and well loved.

5 out of 5 starsThis bookbinders tool kit was just what I was hoping for. The sturdy bag is filled with a good selection of decent quality bookbinding tools. It was the perfect gift for a friend of mine who has an interest in bookbinding and is ready to go beyond readymade kits. The tool kit was well wrapped and shipped very quickly.

Brainstorming new products: cup of tea, sketchbooks with ideas, fancy pen, sunshine. It's all here!
Hand crafted books, Screen printing, textiles, paper arts and crochet: Bringing it all together for the love of books!
SproutsPress home studio is a busy and multi-disciplinary space, where an ever-changing and growing skill set is used and many different things are created. But it always comes back to a love of books: to write in, to sketch in, to ponder, read, admire, examine and fully, wholeheartedly enjoy.
My creations are inspired by my personal experience with writing and sketching. It's the little things I enjoy when engrossed with a journal and how to express my love for books when it’s tucked in my tote bag. I’ve also realized that the functionality of a book's structure and how it can be designed to suit certain activities (such as watercolour painting while hiking or hand-sized journals for toting along to the coffee shop) has shaped many of my book projects.
Discovering and learning new bookbinding techniques and also historical book designs fuels my creativity. While I enjoy mixing new and reclaimed materials in everything I create, I especially enjoy reclaiming old book parts, when possible, by deconstructing and dissecting a book to it’s raw materials and then re-using what I can to create a new journal ready for a second life. I strive to respect this incredible and amazing planet as often as possible by upcycling materials whenever possible, but occasionally I cannot resist a beautiful Chiyogami or Florentine paper. Sometimes the pairing of new and old materials creates a beauty that has to be shared.
When crafting hand-bound books, using thread and needle and a variety of binding stitches, some ancient and some that I created. I consider size, shape, texture, colour and practicality. Aesthetics are important, but I also really want people to express their hearts out on the pages of the books I make. These are objects designed to be used, well worn and well loved.
